Munster Uneven Age XC 11-Nov-2018

The Munster Uneven age XC was held on Sunday 11th November at Twomile borris , Co.Tipperary. Youghal Ac had 46 athletes competing on the day , with many outstanding performances. Despite the wind and rain, ground conditions were relatively good. 


Our U9 girls were up first in their 750m race. Clodagh Walsh led the Youghal girls home, followed closely by Orla Motherway, Caoimhe Brennan and Jane Ansbro. 

In the U9 boys race Ruby Devereaux stormed home to finish 8th overall , winning an individual Munster medal and a county gold medal . He also took club bronze with his team mates ,Ciaran Hynes, Oran Coleman, Cartach O Laoire, Jamie Coleman and Shane Coffey who all put in super performances.

Taylor Aherne had a great run in the U11 girls 1500m race to finish 5th overall, winning an individual Munster medal and gold county team medal. Vivien Millerick followed closely in 10th position , also winning an individual Munster medal. Autumn Devereaux had a great run to finish 21st , followed by Karolina Kadlikova 67th . Tess Cummins completed this super team that won team gold medals and qualified for the National Uneven age XC in December. 

Donnacha Coleman led the U11 boys home closely followed by Finn Coleman and Finn Connaughtan. Jack O Neill , Conor O Sullivan, Leo Nicholson and Quin Buckley completed this strong team. 

In the U13 girls 2500m race Emily Brenner had a great run to finish 15th overall. She was closely followed by Sorcha Kilgannon 29th , Izabella Chidlow 63rd and Katie Ansbro 66th. Poppi Devereaux , Ruby Kennedy and Saorla Ni Laoire competed this team. 

Jude Buckley and Rion O Laoire competed well in the U13 boys race.

Emma Landers had an outstanding run in the U15 girls 3500m race to take the Munster title . She was followed closely by Avril Cashman 9th . Both girls winning individual Munster medals and Cork team gold medals. Avril Millerick 14th, Alex Cashman 15th and Erin Joyce 16th followed in close succession , with Eva Murphy, Robyn Buckley , Rion Walsh and Natasha Kilgannon completing this fantastic team which won club team gold . 

Charlie O Neill competed well in the U15 boys race.  

In the U17 girls 4000m race Lucy O Keeffe finished a super 4th winning an individual Munster medal and leading the Cork team to county gold. Lesley Cashman finished in 32nd position. 

Conor O Neill had a great run in the U17 boys race finishing 8th overall , winning an individual Munster medal and a county team gold medal. Ciaran McNamee had to retire due to injury. 

Jake McCarthy finished well in 8th position in the U19 boys race, winning an individual Munster medal and a county gold team medal. 
   
Well done to all who competed and congrats to the 2 teams and 3 individuals who qualified for the National Uneven age XC in December.

County Masters Cross Country 04-Nov-2018

Weather behaved this morning after a very wet night for the county masters in Castlelyons.

The course was very fast with only one pull, conditions underfoot were perfect.


We had 2 ladies teams, O35 and O45 – both claiming titles today with Ladies O35 getting Silver, well done to Evelyn Cashman, Ann Marie Holland, Michelle Nolan and Mary O Keeffe.

Next was our ladies O 45 got Gold with top honours going to Celia O Regan, Geraldine Curtin and Sandra Ryan.

All ladies all received individual medals today also.

Evelyn Cashman had a superb performance claiming 2nd overall.

Special mention must go to Geraldine Curtin and Sandra Ryan on a very impressive comeback into Cross Country, both ladies have been training hard in preparation for this.

The mens teams also had a great day with Mo50 putting in a very strong performance, this team consisted of Marty O Keeffe, Steven Devereaux and Noel Curtin.

Mens O50 Team Gold, Marty, Stephen and Noel.

Ian Murphy, Ed Nicholson and David Kilgannon also competed in a very competitive MO35 category.

Well done to everyone who took part today, next Cross Country is Munster Senior in Borriskane, Co. Tipperary next Sunday.

The County B XC was held in Conna on Monday 29th October. It was a good course with a tough uphill finish but this did not deter our young athletes.      


Our U9boys were up first and Ciaran Hynes10th  had a great run to lead the YOUGHAL boys home . He was closely followed by Isaac McMahon, Oran Coleman and Shane Coffey. Each put in a super performance to win team bronze medals. 

Aine Collins led the the U11 YOUGHAL girls home . She was closely followed by Katie Ates, Amy Coleman, Niamh Murray and Doireann Barry. Molly  O Brien and Tess Cummins completed this team. 

In the U11 boys 1000m race Andrew Brenner had a great run to finish 16th. He was closely followed by Leo Nicholson, Conor O Sullivan and James O Brien . Enda Terry and Rory Walsh completed this team. 

Katie Ansbro had a super run in the U13 girls 1500m race to finish 6th overall and win an individual medal.  Alise Barry was next in 18th , closely followed by Ellie Walsh 27th and Clodagh Fitzgerald 34th. Great running from the girls to secure team silver.

Dylan Cairns had a great run in the U13boys race to finish 17th . 

Another great performance by Charlie O Neill to finish 7th overall in the U15boys 2500M race. 

Lesley Cashman finish 5th in the U17 girls race to win an individual medal while Ben Terry took silver in the U17boys race.

The Munster Even age XC was held in Beaufort , Co.Kerry on Sunday 21st October. Youghal Ac had 35 young athletes competing, with some outstanding performances on the day. It was a wet , miserable day to start but improved during the day . Ground conditions were good however on this relatively flat fast course. 


Our U10 girls were up first with great runs by Lauren o Brien, Aine Collins, Niamh Murray and Tess Cummins. Donnacha Coleman led the U10 Youghal boys home , followed by Conor O Sullivan, Leo Nicholson, Tadgh O Brien and Quin Buckley. 

Taylor Aherne had a super run in the U12 girls race to finish 15th overall. She was the 6th scorer for the winning Cork team thus qualifying for the National XC . Vivien Millerick followed closely in 23rd position and also qualified for the All Ireland XC on the Cork team . Autumn Devereaux and Clodagh Fitzgerald completed this great team. Jimmy Nicholson had a great run in the U12 boys 2000m race to finish 45th.

The U14 girls were led home by Avril Millerick who had a terrific run to finish 10th overall winning an individual Munster medal. Emily Brenner also had a super run to finish 18th , followed closely by Sorcha Kilgannon 26th and Alex Cashman 29th. Grace Rooney, Izabella Chidlow and Ruby Kennedy completed this great team that won team bronze medals and qualified for the Nationals. Jude Buckley and Ronin Joyce , both running up an age , competed well in the U14 boys race.

Emma Landers and Avril Cashman had fantastic runs in the U16 girls 4000m race finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively , winning silver and bronze individual Munster medals. They were also 1st and 2nd scorers on the Cork team , taking gold county team medals. Erin Joyce 16th ,Eva Murphy 17th, Robyn Buckley 21st and Rion Walsh 33rd completed this super team which won club team gold medals, thus qualifying for the National XC . Eoin Brenner competed well in the U16 boys event . Ciaran McNamee had to retire due to injury. 

In the U18girls race Lucy O Keeffe had a super race to finish 2nd overall , winning an individual silver Munster medal. She was also 1st scorer for the Cork team which took silver. Lesley Cashman 24th also qualified for the Nationals on the Cork team.

Conor O Neill had a great run in the U18 boys race to finish 9th overall , winning an individual Munster medal. He was also 4th scorer on the winning Cork team. Jake McCarthy 20th also qualified for the All Ireland XC on the Cork team. 

Well done to all who competed and to the 18 athletes who qualified for the National XC in November . Keep up the training!

Munster Novice Cross Country 21-Oct-2018

We had an early start to get to Beaufort in Co Kerry this morning. Conditions were very wet but cleared up in time for the Adults races.

We had one lady for the Novice – well done to Mary O Keeffe.

The Men’s team came 6th in a very competitive field. Well done to Nigel, Martin, Brian, Ed and Ian.

Next Cross country is Cork Athletics Intermediate on Monday 29 October

The County uneven age XC was held in Carrig na bhfearr on Sunday 14th Oct. The sun was shining throughout the day making it a super day for spectators but a little hot for athletes.


Our U9girls started the day off well by taking team Bronze medals. Clodagh Walsh had a super performance finishing 4th overall and getting an individual county medal. Orla Motherway was next with a great 9th position finish. Caoimhe Brennan 36th and Jane Ansbro 46th completed scoring for this great team. 

Ruby Devereaux had a fantastic run in the U9 boys race taking individual bronze. Oran Coleman 19th , SHANE Coffey 39th, Ciaran Hynes 45th followed closely behind. Diarmaid Russell and Christopher Cotter completed this team. 

In the U11 girls 1500m Taylor Aherne led the Youghal girls home finishing 6th and winning an individual county medal. Vivien Millerick 15th, Autumn Devereaux 16th and Carolina Kadlikova 19th completed scoring to take team gold. Emily Barry, Lilly Cooney, Niamh Murray, Katie Ates, Doireann Barry, Amy Coleman, Lauren Keating and Tess Cummins completed this great team. 

In the U11 boys race Finn Coleman led the Youghal boys home finishing 12th overall. He was closely followed by James Nicholson 14th ,Donnacha Coleman 21st and Jack O Neill 50th. Tadhg O Brien, Quin Buckley, Finn Connaughtan , James O Brien, Cathal Brennan, Leo Nicholson and Conor O Sullivan completed this team which took team bronze. 

Emily Brenner had an outstanding performance in the U13 girls race to take individual bronze. She was followed by Sorcha Kilgannon 11th, Izabella Chidlow 23rd and  Poppi Devereaux 33rd. Katie Ansbro 34th , Ruby Kennedy 35th and Alize Barry 47th completed this team which finished 4th.

Dylan Cairns 23rd led the U13 boys home. He was followed by Jude Buckley 35th , Jonah Connaughtan 56th and Ronin Joyce 62nd. 

Charlie O Neill competed well in the U15 boys 3500m race to finish 24th.

Emma Landers had a brilliant run in the U15 girls race to take the county title. She was followed closely by Avril Cashman 5th who also won an individual county medal. Alex Cashman had a great run to finish 7th closely followed by Eva Murphy 10th and Robyn Buckley 13th. Erin Joyce finish 16th despite a knee injury and Rion Walsh finished well in 20th position. Natasha Kilgannon completed this super team which took team gold.

Lucy O Keeffe had a super run in the U17 girls 4000m race. She led from the start and finished comfortably to take the county title. Lesley Cashman finished 11th. 

Ciaran McNamee finished 10th in the U17 boys race closely followed by Conor O Neill 13th and. Eoin Brenner 21st. 

Simon Upton competed well in the Junior men’s race.

The County even age XC was held near Macroon on Sunday 7th October . Ground conditions were good on the day but the strong wind and undulating course made it very tough for our athletes. 


Our U10 girls were up first in their 1000m race. Clodagh Walsh had a super run to finish 15th overall , leading  the Youghal girls home . She was closely followed by Aine Collins 31st , Niamh Murray 40th and Orla Motherway 41st. Doireann Barry, Pearl Phipps, Lauren Keating and Tess Cummins completed this team. 

In the U10 boys race Donnacha Coleman has a great run to finish 9th overall , closely followed by Ruby Devereaux 15th, Leo Nicholson 40th and Tadgh O Brien 44th. Quin Buckley, James O Brien and Enda Terry completed this team. 

Taylor Aherne led the Youghal U12 girls finishing well in 12th position. Autumn Devereaux 14th and Vivien Millerick 15th also put in great performances. Carolina Kadlikova , Clodagh Fitzgerald, Emily Barry and Amy Coleman completed this team which finished 4th overall. 

In the U12 boys race Jimmy Nicholson had a super run to finish 13th overall . He was closely followed by Dylan Cairns 22nd and Andrew Brenner 24th.

The U14 girls ran 3k and were led home by Avril Millerick 10th , Emily Brenner 12th and Alex Cashman 13th . Sorcha Kilgannon had a great run to finish 22nd followed by Ruby Kennedy, Izabella Chidlow, Katie Ansbro and Alice Barry. These super performances secured team bronze for the Youghal girls. 

Jude Buckley was the only Youghal athlete to complete the U14 boys 3k and finished well in 29th position. Ronin Joyce had to retire due to injury. 

Emma Landers had  a fantastic run in the U16 girls 4K race to take the county title. She was followed closely by Avril Cashman who took bronze. Erin Joyce finished well in 8th position , with Eva Murphy 9th. Robyn Buckley and Rion Walsh finished 13th and 14th respectively , with Natasha Kikgannon completing this super team which took gold. 

Ciaran McNamee finished 4th in the U16 boys race , followed by Eoin Brenner 19th. 

Lucy O Keeffe had an impressive win in the U18 girls race to take the County title. Lesley Cashman finished 15th overall. 

Conor O Neill battled hard in the U18 boys race to take bronze , with Ben Terry finishing 12th.

BHAA Cork to Cobh 30-Sep-2018

The 2018 Cork to Cobh was held in near perfect conditions, with a 9am start it was a early start for all Youghal athletes heading to the start line. Several of our athletes were using this as a pace run in preparation for Dublin City Marathon.


Well done to everyone who competed, we had individual and category prizes on the day.  Well done to Flanagan Print Ladies team who took top honours.

With blue skies and firm ground, conditions were perfect for the start of the XC season which began with the East Cork XC in Ballynoe on Sunday 23rd Sept. There was a great turn out of young athletes from YOUGHAL AC  on the day. 


Aine Collins  had a great run in the U10 girls 1000m race to finish 5th overall. She was closely followed by Clodagh Walsh 7th , Lauren O Brien 9th and Orla Motherway 10th. Kate Finn, Caoimhe Brennan, Niamh Murray , Pearl Phipps, Lauren Keating and Tess Cummins completed this great team which won team silver. 

Ruby Devereaux had a super run in the U10 boys race to finish 4th overall closely followed by Donnacha Coleman 5th . Tadhg O Brien, Isaac McMahon, Ciaran Hynes, Odhran Coleman, Shane Coffey, Leo Nicholson, Christopher Cotter, Conor O Sullivan, Enda Terry and Quin Buckley completed this strong team which also took silver.

In the U12 girls 1500m race Taylor Aherne took individual bronze closely followed by Vivien Millerick 5th and Karolina Kadlocova 7th. Clodagh Fitzgerald, Katie Ates and Amy Coleman completed this great team which won silver. 

Paddy Nicholson had a super finish to take individual bronze in the U12 boys race. Followed by Dylan Cairns 5th Finn Coleman 6th and Jimmy Nicholson 7th to secure team gold. Fiona Brennan , Harry Fitzgerald , Alex Swayne Curran, Cathal Brennan, Jack O Neill and Finn Connaughtan completed this strong team. 

Avril Millerick lead the YOUGHAL girls home in the U14 girls race and took individual bronze. She was followed by Alex Cashman 6th , Emily Brennar 7th and Sorcha Kilgannon 8th. Izabella Chidlow, Grace Rooney, Ruby Kennedy, Katie Ansbro and Eireann Barrett completed this team which won gold. 

Charlie O Neill finished well in 8th position in the U14 boys race. He was followed closely by Jude Buckley 11th.

Emma Landers led the U16 girls home , closely followed by Avril Cashman 2nd and Robyn Buckley 3rd . Erin Joyce finished 4th and Eva Murphy 5th . Natasha Kikgannon completed this super team which undoubtedly took gold. 

Ciaran McNamee took individual gold in the U16 boys race Eoin Brennar also competed well.
