County T&F Day2 12-May-2019

The county T&F day 2 was held in CIT on Sunday 12th May . YOUGHAL Ac had a number of athletes competing on the day. 

Neasa Barry had a super run in the U 9 girls 300m to qualify for the final . She also competed in the long jump. Orla Motherway and Caoimhe Brennan competed well in the U10 girls sprints. They also competed in the turbo javelin along with Clodagh Walsh. 

Niamh Murray, Tess Cummins, Doireann Barry, Molly O Brien and Lana Power all put in great performances in the U11 girls 600m. They also competed in the long jump. 

Donnacha Coleman, Quin Buckley and Leo Nicholson competed in the U11 boys 600m and shot. 

In the U12 girls competition, Autumn Devereaux , Amy Coleman and Vivien competed well in the sprints. Amy and Autumn competed in turbo javelin too and Autumn competed in the high jump. 

Dylan Cairns competed well in the U13 boys sprint. Jude Buckley had a super run in the U14 boys 800m. 

Our U14 girls were busy competing in 2k walk, javelin, 200m sprints high jump and 800m with some great performances. Poppi Devereaux took silver in the walk with Katie Ansbro a close 3rd. Ruby Kennedy took silver in the javelin with a 21.3m throw. Sorcha Kilgannon finished 3rd in the High jump with a very good 1.4m jump. Alise Barry competed well in the 800m. 

Avril Millerick had a super run in the U15 girls 800m to take bronze. Alex Cashman won the U15 girls walk , finished 4th in the javelin and competed well in the 800m.

Natasha Kilgannon won the U16 girls high jump and also took gold in the walk. Eva Murphy took bronze in the walk and in the high jump. She also competed well in the 200m and 800m. Robyn Buckley competed well in the 800m. Avril Cashman won the 3000m. 

In the U17 boys competition, Ciaran McNamee took gold in the 800m and Liam O Leary won the high jump with a super 1.72m jump. Lucy O Keeffe won the U18 girls 800m while Kerry Barrett took silver. Kerry also took silver in the javelin. 

Jake McCarthy  won the U19 boys 800m.

The county T&F championship day 1 was held in CIT on Sun 5th May. Youghal AC had many athletes competing on the day with some outstanding performances.

In the U9 girls competition Lucy MacKelleher and Neasa Barry competed well in the sprints and turbo javelin. Paddy Kelly competed in the U9 boys sprints and turbo javelin. 

Orla Motherway had a great run in the U10girls 500m to qualify for the final . Caoimhe Brennan also competed well in the 500m and long jump. 

Ruby Devereaux and Ciaran Hynes both qualified for the 500m U10 boys final and also competed well in the long jump with Shane Coffey.

Tess Cummins , Doireann Barry, Lauren O Brien, Molly O Brien, Lana Power and Niamh Murray all competed in the U11 girls sprints with Niamh having a super run to qualify for the semi final. The girls also competed in turbo javelin and shot.

Donnacha Coleman, Quin Buckley and Leo Nicholson competed in the U 11 boys sprints, turbo javelin and high jump.

Autumn Devereaux  and Taylor Aherne had great runs in the U12 girls 600m heats to qualify for the final , where unfortunately Taylor had a bad fall. Amy Coleman , Katie Ates and Emily Barry all competed  well in the 600m . Autumn also took silver in the shot. There were good performances by Katie , Taylor and Autumn in the sprint hurdles and by Amy , Taylor and Autumn in the long jump. 

In the U13 boys events, Dylan Cairns had a great run in the 600m and Fionn Brennan took bronze in the javelin with a 17.52m throw. He also competed well in the sprint hurdles. 

Poppi Devereaux had a great run in the long hurdles to come 4th in the final . She also came 4th in the sprint hurdles and competed well in the shot. Alise Barry and Sorcha’s Kilgannon competed well in the 1500m. Alise and Katie Ansbro competed well in the long jump and shot, while Ruby Kennedy competed well in the hurdles and shot.

Ben Walsh took silver in the U14boys javelin with a super 28.83m throw. Ralph Cashman came 5th in the javelin. Jude Buckley had a super run the U14 boys 1500m to take bronze.

Grace Rooney had a great day in the U15 girls competition taking gold in the long hurdles, silver in the sprints and bronze in the high jump. Avril Millerick had a super run in the 1500m to take silver , with  Alex Cashman taking bronze. 

In the U16 girls competition Avril Cashman took silver in the 1500m , and Robyn Buckley finished 4th . Eva Murphy competed in the sprints. 

Ciaran McNamee took bronze in the U17boys 1500m. 

Lucy O Keeffe won the U18 girls 1500m and Kerry Barrett took bronze in the U18 girls 400m  and also competed well in the shot.

East Munster Schools Boys T&F 09-May-2019

The East Munster schools boys T& F competition was held in Templemore on Thur 9th May. Conor OLeary won the junior boys  high jump with a super 1.64m jump. He also took bronze in the discus. Liam O Leary took gold in the Intermediate boys high jump. Jake McCarthy won the senior boys 3000m . These youghal Ac athletes all represented Pobal Scoil an Trionoide on the day.

South Munster Schools T&F 08-May-2019

The south Munster schools girls T&F was held in CIT on Wednesday 8th May. Youghal AC had 3athletes competing for St. Mary’s Midleton. Avril Millerick had a super run in the junior girls 1500m to take gold . Grace a Rooney took silver in the junior 200m and bronze in the 100m. Lucy O Keeffe won the 3000m Intermediate race. 

Ciaran McNamee took bronze in the Intermediate boys 3000m in the South Munster boys competition held in CIT on Friday 10th May

East Munster Schools T&F 01-May-2019

The East Munster Schools girls T&F competition was held in Templemore on Wednesday 1st May. Youghal AC had 10 athletes competing on the day ,representing Pobal Scoil na Trionoide. 

In the Minor girls competition Sorcha’s Kilgannon finished 4th in the 800m and took bronze in the junior girls high jump with a super 1.5m jump.

Alex Cashman won the junior girls 1500m and took silver in the javelin. Natasha Kilgannon took bronze in the junior walk and finished 4th in the high jump. Erin Joyce took gold in the junior 800m . Eva Murphy took silver in the 200m. 

In the Intermediate girls competition Avril Cashman won the 1500m steeplechase and took silver in the 1500m . Rion Walsh took silver in the 200m. Robyn Buckley finished 4th in the 1500m and 5th in the 800m. 

Emma Landers took silver in the u16 mile . Kerry Barrett won the senior girls javelin.

National Juvenile Indoors 30/31-Mar-2019

The National juvenile indoors were held in Athlone on Sat 30th and Sunday 31st March. Youghal Ac had 5 athletes competing over the weekend.

Grace Rooney had and outstanding performance in the U15 girls 60m sprints to take the national title  with a PB of 7.84 seconds. She also took bronze in the 60m sprint hurdles. 

Dylan Cairns competed well in the U13 boys long jump .Natasha Kilgannon put in a great performance in the U16 girls 1500m walk. Liam o Leary competed well in the U18 boys high jump with a super 1.6m jump to finish 5th overall.

Schools International XC 23-Mar-2019

Sat 23rd March was a great day for YOUGHAL AC , with 4 athletes from the club competing for Ireland at the schools international XC in Santry, Dublin. Lucy O'Keeffe and Avril Millerick from St. Mary’s Midleton and Alex Cashman and Emma Landers from Pobal Scoil , Youghal had qualified individually from the National school XC held 2 weeks previously. 


Alex and Avril had super runs in the Junior girls 3000m race to finish 22nd and 27th respectively . Their Irish team finished 4th overall. 

Lucy O'Keeffe had an outstanding performance in the Intermediate girls 4000m race to finish 17th overall. She was the 3rd scorer on the Irish team which took bronze. 

Emma Landers competed in the mixed 4 x 1500m relay. She had a terrific 3rd leg of the relay ,holding off tough competition to give her team an excellent chance heading into the final leg. The Irish team finished in silver medal position.

YOUGHAL AC

EXCITING NEWS!


            

In February work began in Youghal AC on a new running and hill track on the perimeter of the field.

This will be a 450m long by 2-metre-wide 50mm All Weather fibrillated carpet infill with dried silica sand and crumb rubber

This is phase one of a large development of Youghal Ac training grounds. Our long-term goal is to be East Corks premier Athletic training grounds

In the coming weeks fundraising will begin to help fund the work. All fundraising events will be on our website and Facebook page (members only)

We invite all members and non-members to come up and view our new facilities once they are open. Membership is now open for new and existing juvenile and Adults members.

Our full training schedule (Tuesday 6.15-7.15 Juvenile 7.30-8.30pm U14up and Adults, Thursdays 6.16-7pm Juvenile 7-8pm U14up and Adults) is hoped to be resumed in late April.
