East Cork XC Uneven Age 20-Sep-2020

The East Cork XC Uneven age was held in Carrignavar on Sunday 20th Sept. Youghal had many athletes competing on the day in fabulous sunshine.


Neasa Ni Laoire got the day off to a great start by taking silver in the U9 girls race. She was followed closely by Kelly Walsh 6th. 

Daniel Aherne took bronze in the U9 boys race. He was followed by Odhran O Sullivan 7th , Michael Coleman 8th and John O Mahony 14th to take team silver .

Clodagh Walsh also had a super run in the U11 girls race to finish 2nd. Chloe McCarthy 4th , Aoife Clifford 5th ,Orla Motherway 8th Molly Mcsweeney 16th and Caoimhe Brennan 22nd completed this super team which won gold. .

Ruby Devereaux led the Youghal boys home in the U11 race to take individual silver. Odhran Coleman 13th , Cartach O Laoire 15th, Shane Coffey 20th and Rohan Walsh 29th completed this team.

Autumn Devereaux finished 6th in the U13 girls race . She was closely followed by Vivien Millerick 8th , Emily Barry 18th, Katie Ates 19th , Amy Coleman 20th, Doireann Barry 21st and Niamh Murray 22nd. This super team won bronze.

Quin Buckley finished 8th overall in the U15boys race. He was followed closely by Leo Nicholson 13th, Donnacha Coleman 15th, Conor o Sullivan 16th, Jack O Neill 19th and Tadhg O Brien 22nd

Katie O Neill finished 5th in the U15 girls race . She was followed by Ailise Barry 7th and Sorcha Kilgannon 8th. Jude Buckley had a great run in the U15 boys race to finish 5th overall.

Our U17 girls put in a super performance with Emma Landers, Avril Millerick and Avril Cashman taking gold , silver and bronze respectively. Alex Cashman finished closely in 5th with Robyn Buckley 6th. The team took gold.

Liam O Connor took bronze in the U17 boys race with Charlie O Neill 6th. 

Ciaran McNamee took silver in the U19 boys race and Lucy O Keeffe won gold in the U19 girls race.

The XC season began on Sunday 13th September for Youghal AC athletes with the East Cork XC championship in Conna.


Our only U10 girl Chloe McCarthy got the day off to a great start by winning silver . Paddy Kelly finished 5th and Jack McSweeney 17th in the U10 boys race.

Clodagh Walsh led the Youghal girls in the U12 girls race and finished 5th overall. She was followed closely by Aine Collins 13th , Niamh Murray 21st and Molly O Brien 25th. Orla Motherway, Caoimhe Brennan , Molly McSweeney and Tess Coleman completed this super team which took team bronze.

Quin Buckley had a super run in the U12 boys race to finish 4th overall. He was followed by Donnacha Coleman 11th, Ruby Devereaux 12th and Conor O Sullivan 15th. Tadhg O Brien and Enda Terry completed this strong team which finished 3rd overall.

Vivien Millerick had a fantastic run to take gold in the U14 girls race . She was closely followed by Katie O Neill 5th, Emily Barry 13th and Katie Ates 14th. Lauren Coleman and Amy Coleman completed this great team which won team gold .

In the U16 girls race Izabella Chidlow led the Youghal girls home to finish 5th overall . She was closely followed by Emily Brenner 6th , Sorcha Kilgannon 13th , Leah Costigan 15th and Katie Ansbro 16th. The girls took team silver.

Liam O Connor had a super run in the U16 boys race to finish 2nd overall . He was followed closely by Jude Buckley 6th and Charlie O Neill 8th. The boys took team silver.

Phase 2 Covid Training

15 People can now train together, on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6.30-7.15 Juvenile training only over 13 with a parent and 7.30-8.30pm Adult Training.

Please note grounds will be open but no structured training, Juveniles are encourage to run easy for 45mins to keep up base level of fitness.

All athletes both Juvenile and Adults must use hand sanitiser on entry,  while running maintain 2meter distance at all times and exit behind container.

Also if any member does not feel well please do not attend training.

Return to Restricted Training from Monday 18th May

I hope you and your family are keeping well during these difficult times, in relation to return to training. Tower park will be open for groups of 4 to train from 18 May. For Juveniles U14 upwards one Adult and 3 kids only. Bookings to be made with Ann Marie on a weekly basis. Ann Marie will need names of everyone using plus a contact number for contact tracing in case of outbreak. For juveniles, parents numbers will have to be supplied not the kids numbers.

All booking will be for 45min leaving 15mins to finish up and allow for next group to come in. Athletes must maintain 2m distance from each other and must all live within the 5km area. For the time being Club House will remain closed. Gate must be locked on leaving grounds.

All Ireland Schools XC 07-Mar-2020

The All Ireland Schools XC was held in Santry on Sat 7th Mar. Ground conditions  were good  which led to very fast races on the day.


Emily Brenner put in a super performance in the Minor girls to finish 12th overall. She was followed by her St. Mary’s Midleton team mate Ailise Barry who also had a great run. Dylan Cairns competed well in the Minor boys race for Pobal Scoil while Liam O Connor finished well in 27th position in the Junior boys race.

Avril Millerick had a fantastic run in the Intermediate girls 3500m race . Despite losing a spike in the early stages of the race she continued to finish 3rd overall. She was followed closely by Emma Landers in 8th position. Both girls qualifying on the Irish team for the SIABs to be held late March in Scotland. Emma was followed by her  Pobal Scoil team mates Avril  Cashman 26th   and Alex Cashman 40th . Robyn Buckley completed this super team which took the Intermediate girls title .

Lucy O Keeffe competed well in the senior girls race to finish a fantastic 10th overall.

Winter League - Week 3

Well done to all who turned out for week 3 of our winter league in horrendous conditions. Despite the wind , sleet and cold there were great performances in the long race by Vivien , Ruby, Emily and Jimmy. While Vivien, Katie , Kayla and Jimmy won the sprints.

Despite the weather there was a great turn out of athletes for week 2 of the winter league.


Munster Schools XC 13-Feb-2020

The Munster Schools XC was held on Thur 13th Feb in Clarecastle. YOUGHAL AC had a number of athletes competing representing their  schools. Ground condition were horrendous on the day but this didn’t deter our athletes.


Emily Brenner had a super run in the Minor girls race to take silver . She was followed by her St Mary’s team mate Ailise Barry who finished 33rd. Both girls winning team gold for their school.

Dylan Cairns had a great run in the Minor boys race to finish 13th overall , thus qualifying individually for the National Schools XC. Jude Buckley also had a good run to finish 21st.

Izabella Chidlow led the Pobal Scoil team in the junior girls race. She was followed closely by Sorcha Kilgannon, Ruby Kennedy and Poppi Devereaux. Liam O Connor had a great run in the junior boys race to finish 11th overall. He also helped his Midleton CBS team to team bronze.

Avril Millerick put in a fantastic performance in the Intermediate girls race to take the Munster title. She was followed closely by Emma Landers 2nd , Avril Cashman 7th and Alex  Cashman  13th. Robyn Buckley 22nd, Erin Joyce 33rd and Rion Walsh 37th completed this super Pobal Scoil team which took team gold.

Lucy O Keeffe had a super run in the senior girls race to take bronze.
