National Uneven Age XC 15-Dec-2018

The National Uneven age  XC was held at Navan racecourse on Saturday 15th Dec. YOUGHAL AC had 14 athletes competing on the day in stormy conditions. Despite the wind and rain , ground conditions were reasonably good although after a few races the surface was getting muddy and slippy. 

Our U11 girls were up first with Taylor Aherne leading the YOUGHAL girls home with a brilliant race to finish 14th overall. She won a gold Munster team medal and Cork gold team medal. Vivien Millerick was next home with a super 31st position finish , to win a gold Cork team medal. Autumn Devereaux finished 60th followed by Emily Barry, Karolina Kadlikova and Tess Cummins. 

Emma Landers had an outstanding performance in the U15 girls 3500m race. She was in the leading bunch from the start and made a final surge in the last tough uphill home straight to come from 30m behind to take the National title. Her delight was enhanced by the super performances of her team mates Avril and Alex Cashman who both also took individual National medals ,finishing 9th and 12th respectively. Emma and Avril also won silver Munster team medals. Avril Millerick also had a super run to finish 31st, with all 4 girls scoring on the Cork team which took gold. Erin Joyce and Eva Murphy completed this amazing team which took Club team gold, with the best team score of the day.

Lucy O Keeffe had a brilliant run in the U17 girls race to finish 6th overall, winning an individual National medal. She also won a gold Munster medal and silver Cork team medal. 

Jake McCarthy had a fantastic run in the U19 boys 6000m race to finish 26th overall. He won a silver Cork team medal.

2019 Youghal AC Membership

Due to Data Protection there is now a page 2 to the membership form.  Page 2 MUST be completed in all cases.

The club will hold a registration night towards the end of January. The date of this will be advised later.

East Cork Uneven Age XC 09-Dec-2018

The East Cork Uneven age XC was held in Watergrasshill on Sunday 9th December. YOUGHAL AC had many young athletes competing on the day. 

Our U9girls got the day off to a great start taking team gold in their 750m race. Clodagh Walsh had a super run to take individual silver . She was followed closely by Orla Motherway 7th, Caoimhe Brennan 9th, Siun O Connell 11th and Jane Ansbro14th .

Ruby Devereaux led the YOUGHAL U9 boys home with a 4th position finish. Isaac Mc Mahon was next in 11th position , followed by Oran Coleman 12th , Ciaran Hynes 13th and Shane Coffey 18th. Great running by the boys to take team silver.

Taylor Aherne and Vivien Millerick had super runs in the U11 girls 1500m to take individual silver and bronze respectively. They were followed closely by Autumn Devereaux 6th and Karolina Kadlikova 7th . Aine Collins, Emily Barry, Lauren O Brien, MollyO Brien , Tess Cummins and Lily Coonan completed this great team that won team gold medals.

Finn Coleman led the U11 Youghal boys home finishing 6th overall . He was followed closely by Donnacha Coleman 11th, Leo Nicholson 14th, Jack O Neill 15th and Rion O Connell 16th . Conor O Sullivan 17th , Quin Buckley 21st and Enda Terry 22nd completed this team which won team bronze .

In the U13 girls 2000m race , Emily Brenner led the youghal girls home, finishing 5th overall. She was closely followed by Sorcha Kikgannon 6th , Izabella Chidlow 8th and Katie Ansbro 9th. Ruby Kennedy 14th and Poppi Devereaux 18th completed this strong team which took silver medals. 

Jude Buckley had a great run to finish 6th in the U13 boys race. He was followed closely by Ben Walsh 8th , Dylan Cairns 9th , Ronan Joyce 14th and Padraig Kennedy 18th. The boys won team silver medals. 

Robyn Buckley had a super run in the U15girls 3000m race to take individual silver followed by Emma Landers taking bronze. Erin Joyce 4th , Avril Cashman 5th and Natasha Kilgannon 11th completed this super team that won gold. 

Charlie O Neill had a great run in the U15boys race to finish 4th overall. Lesley Cashman finished 7th in the U17 girls 3000m race.

Munster B XC 02-Dec-2018

The Munster B XC was held in Riverstick on Sunday 2nd December . It was a wet miserable day with mucky underfoot conditions but this did not deter our  young athletes that competed on the day. 

Orla Motherway and Caoimhe Brennan competed well in the U9girls race to finish 21st and 26th respectively. 

Anne Collins and Lily Connan put in great performances in the U11 girls race. 

In the U11 boys competition Donnacha Coleman led the youghal boys home to finish 22nd overall. He was followed by Jack O Neill , Conor O Sullivan and Quin Buckley.

Led by Ruby Kennedy, our U13 girls had some super performances. Poppi Devereaux was next home , followed by Katie Ansbro and Saorla Ni Laoire. The girls won silver club team medals.

Jude Buckley was outstanding in the U13 boys race to finish 13 th overall, winning a gold Cork team medal. Dylan Cairns and Rion O Laoire also competed well. Charlie O Neill had a great run in the U15 boys race to finish 19th overall. 

Ciaran McNamee had a fantastic run. In the U17 boys race to finish 2nd overall, winning individual silver and cork gold team medal.

The National evenage XC was held in Abbotstown on Sunday 25th November. Youghal AC had 18 athletes competing on the day. Despite all the rainfall the previous week, ground conditions were  relatively good. 

The U12 girls 2000m races was the first of the day and Vivien Millerick and Taylor Aherne competed on the Cork team. Both put in great performances with Vivien scoring for the Cork team, winning a bronze County team medal. 

Our U14 girls were up next with Avril Millerick leading the Youghal girls home in 23rd position, winning a silver Munster medal and gold Cork team medal. Emily Brenner had a super run to finish 24th , closely followed by Alex Cashman 28th . Sorcha Kilgannon, Izabella Chidlow and Grace Rooney completed this team which finish just outside medal position in 4th. 

Emma Landers had an outstanding run in the U16girls 4000m race to finish 5th overall , winning an individual national medal , in addition to a Munster silver and Cork team gold medal. Avril Cashman was next home in 38th position, followed by Eva Murphy 57th . Both girls also winning County team gold medals. Erin Joyce 72nd, Robyn Buckley and Rion Walsh completed this super team which took club team bronze. 

In the U18 girls race Lucy O Keeffe put in a fantastic performance to finish 4th overall   , winning an individual National medal as well as a Munster silver medal. She also finished 13th in the combined junior girls race and was the 2nd scorer on the winning Cork team . Lesley Cashman also competed well in this 4000m race.

Jake McCarthy competed in the U18 boys race finishing 26th overall, winning a Cork bronze medal. Simon Upton competed well in the junior men’s race.

Munster Master Cross Country 18-Nov-2018

An early start was had by all Youghal Athletes heading to Clarecastle last Sunday. Conditions were perfect with sunshine and blue skies. The course was very hard under foot and suited all our runners.

Youghal AC came away with top honours for both Ladies O35 Team and Men O50, Ladies O45 also claimed Bronze Team. There were also several induvial and County medals, a total of 20 Medals!

Youghal AC National Marathon Women Masters Champions 2018

Youghal AC's F35 National Marathon Champions: Louise O'Brien, Deirdre Ansbro and Ann Marie Holland

Youghal AC are celebrating their F35 women's team's National Marathon Championship Gold medal performance, at the Athletics Ireland National Marathon Championships, which were incorporated into the recent Dublin City Marathon, on Sunday October 28th 2018. 

According to the team's Coach, Martin Drake, these are the Club's first ever National Marathon Championship medals and has brought both excitement, joy and inspiration to the club. First home was Ann Marie Holland, who was 8th F40, in 3:08:38, next home was Deirdre Ansbro, 11th F35, in 3:14:08, while Louise O'Brien anchored the team, as 23rd F40, in 3:25:41, for a Team aggregate time of 9:48:27

The Munster Uneven age XC was held on Sunday 11th November at Twomile borris , Co.Tipperary. Youghal Ac had 46 athletes competing on the day , with many outstanding performances. Despite the wind and rain, ground conditions were relatively good. 

Our U9 girls were up first in their 750m race. Clodagh Walsh led the Youghal girls home, followed closely by Orla Motherway, Caoimhe Brennan and Jane Ansbro. 

In the U9 boys race Ruby Devereaux stormed home to finish 8th overall , winning an individual Munster medal and a county gold medal . He also took club bronze with his team mates ,Ciaran Hynes, Oran Coleman, Cartach O Laoire, Jamie Coleman and Shane Coffey who all put in super performances.

Taylor Aherne had a great run in the U11 girls 1500m race to finish 5th overall, winning an individual Munster medal and gold county team medal. Vivien Millerick followed closely in 10th position , also winning an individual Munster medal. Autumn Devereaux had a great run to finish 21st , followed by Karolina Kadlikova 67th . Tess Cummins completed this super team that won team gold medals and qualified for the National Uneven age XC in December. 

Donnacha Coleman led the U11 boys home closely followed by Finn Coleman and Finn Connaughtan. Jack O Neill , Conor O Sullivan, Leo Nicholson and Quin Buckley completed this strong team. 

In the U13 girls 2500m race Emily Brenner had a great run to finish 15th overall. She was closely followed by Sorcha Kilgannon 29th , Izabella Chidlow 63rd and Katie Ansbro 66th. Poppi Devereaux , Ruby Kennedy and Saorla Ni Laoire competed this team. 

Jude Buckley and Rion O Laoire competed well in the U13 boys race.

Emma Landers had an outstanding run in the U15 girls 3500m race to take the Munster title . She was followed closely by Avril Cashman 9th . Both girls winning individual Munster medals and Cork team gold medals. Avril Millerick 14th, Alex Cashman 15th and Erin Joyce 16th followed in close succession , with Eva Murphy, Robyn Buckley , Rion Walsh and Natasha Kilgannon completing this fantastic team which won club team gold . 

Charlie O Neill competed well in the U15 boys race.  

In the U17 girls 4000m race Lucy O Keeffe finished a super 4th winning an individual Munster medal and leading the Cork team to county gold. Lesley Cashman finished in 32nd position. 

Conor O Neill had a great run in the U17 boys race finishing 8th overall , winning an individual Munster medal and a county team gold medal. Ciaran McNamee had to retire due to injury. 

Jake McCarthy finished well in 8th position in the U19 boys race, winning an individual Munster medal and a county gold team medal. 
Well done to all who competed and congrats to the 2 teams and 3 individuals who qualified for the National Uneven age XC in December.

County Masters Cross Country 04-Nov-2018

Weather behaved this morning after a very wet night for the county masters in Castlelyons.

The course was very fast with only one pull, conditions underfoot were perfect.

We had 2 ladies teams, O35 and O45 – both claiming titles today with Ladies O35 getting Silver, well done to Evelyn Cashman, Ann Marie Holland, Michelle Nolan and Mary O Keeffe.

Next was our ladies O 45 got Gold with top honours going to Celia O Regan, Geraldine Curtin and Sandra Ryan.

All ladies all received individual medals today also.

Evelyn Cashman had a superb performance claiming 2nd overall.

Special mention must go to Geraldine Curtin and Sandra Ryan on a very impressive comeback into Cross Country, both ladies have been training hard in preparation for this.

The mens teams also had a great day with Mo50 putting in a very strong performance, this team consisted of Marty O Keeffe, Steven Devereaux and Noel Curtin.

Mens O50 Team Gold, Marty, Stephen and Noel.

Ian Murphy, Ed Nicholson and David Kilgannon also competed in a very competitive MO35 category.

Well done to everyone who took part today, next Cross Country is Munster Senior in Borriskane, Co. Tipperary next Sunday.
