The National Uneven age XC was held in Dunboyne Co.Meath on Sunday 15th Dec. YOUGHAL Ac had a number of athletes competing on the day with some outstanding achievements. Ground conditions were very muddy and sticky in patches but at least the showers held off for the day.

In the U13 girls 2500m race Vivien Millerick led the YOUGHAL girls home with a great run to finish 66th overall. She was followed by Saorla Ni Laoire and Katie Ates. Autumn Devereaux who was sick on the day put in a very brave performance but had to retire after a fall in the mud.

Avril Millerick had a super run in the U15 girls 3500m race to finish 5th overall winning an individual National medal in addition to a silver Munster and Cork gold medal. Alex Cashman was next home in 28th position and sprinted to the line to take the last Cork medal. Emily Brenner followed closely in 32nd position ,with Sorcha Kilgannon completing scoring for the team in 52nd place. Izabella Chidlow and Katie Ansbro completed this fantastic team which won team silver.

There was great excitement in Youghal camp when we watched Emma Landers take the lead going out on her last lap in her 4000m race. We watched in anticipation as she gradually extended her lead to take the U17 girls title comfortably. Avril Cashman worked her way through the field to finish strongly in 18th position. Both girls winning gold cork and bronze Munster medals. Robyn Buckley put in a super performance to finish 54th followed by Erin Joyce 76th. Eva Murphy and Natasha Kilgannon completed this super team which won team silver .

Ciaran McNamee had a great run in the U17 boys 5000m race to finish 71st overall.
