Woodies DIY National Track and Field League - 22nd July 2012

Woodies DIY National Track and Field League - Youghal Ladies team qualify for National League Final.
 
Youghal AC Ladies and Mens team competed at round two of the Woodies DIY National Track and Field League at Tullamore on 22nd July in an endeavour to qualify for the final on 19th August. After two days of competiton Youghal Ladies finished in 7th position which qualifies them in the top eight for the final. The men's team finished in 12th place narrowly missing out as points were very close. A special thanks to our superb guests on both teams Aileen  Hurley (Gr. Fermoy), Aideen Hallahan (Midleton), Diarmuid Hickey (RIverstick/Kinsale) and Daniel Colbert (Midleton).  It was also great to see welcome additions to the teams on day two, Deirrdre Cronin, Cian Greene, Jack Daly and Adam Malone.
 
 
The Ladies finished in 2nd place in Tullamore and had some very good scoring on the day.  The panel included Nikita Savage, 1st in Pole Vault 2.60m, 4th in 400m 69.65 and 4th in 800m 2.58.85, Patricia Curtin 1st in Javelin 32.39m, 5th in 400mh 89.34 and 3rd in Triple Jump 8.87m, Richella Devereaux 5th in 1500m 6.22.39, Faye O' Brien 3rd in High Jump 1.30m and Hammer 15.66m, Deirdre Cronin 3rd in 200m and Long Jump 4.60m, Aileen Hurley,Guest 3rd in 100m 13.31 and 2nd in 100mh 16.59, Aideen Hallahan, guest 2nd in Shot 9.74 and 3rd in Discus 21.96m.  The 4 x 100m team had a great run finishing in 4th 54.28 and included Aileen Hurley, Deirdre Cronin, Patricia Curtin and Nikita Savage.  The 4 x 400m team came 5th in a time of 4.54.75 and included Aideen Hallahan, Nikita Savage, Aileen Hurley and Deirdre Cronin.
 
 
The Men's team included Diarmuid Hickey, guest 1st in Shot 12.63m and Javelin 46.97m, Daniel Colbert, guest 2nd in Triple Jump 12.27m, 2nd in 110mh 17.30 and 2nd in 400mh 59.66, Maurice Cahill 5th in Discus 21.08m and 6th in 56lb for Distance 4.35m, John Malone 6th in 1500m 4.31,  Adam Malone 7th in 800m 2.23.66, Cian Green 4th in 200m 23.69 and 4th in Long Jump 5.77m. Jack Daly 6th in 400m 57.05 and 4th in High Jump 1.50m.  The 4 x 100m team ran very well to come 4th in a time 46.14 in a very competitive field and included Diarmuid Hickey, Cian Greene, Jack Daly and Daniel Colbert.  The 4 x 400m team included Adam Malone, Jack Daly, Daniel Colbert and Cian Greene and finished in 6th place.
 
Well done to team managers Richella Devereaux and John Malone and Frank Morrisson who officiated on the day. Thanks to all our drivers especially Mossie, John, Noel, Ricky and Ann over two days of competition.  Best of luck to the ladies in Tullamore on the 19th August- this a great achievement for the club in their first year of participation in this league.
