YOUGHAL AC U13 GIRLS  WIN NATIONAL XC TITLE

The National uneven age XC took place at Dundalk IT on Sunday 11th December. After a week of damp weather,  conditions were surprisingly good underfoot on the day.

Our U11 girls started the day with a 1500m race. Sorcha Kilgannon led the Youghal girls home with an excellent run to finish 9th overall, in a very competitive field . She was also 2nd scorer for Cork and Munster, winning gold county and bronze provincial medals , in addition to her individual  National medal. Poppi Devereaux was next home in 52nd position followed by Eireann Barrett 63rd and Rachel Murray 98th. Ruby Kennedy and Katie Ansbro completed the team which finished 6th overall. A great result from a team which has improved a lot throughout the season.

Emma Landers led the Youghal U13 girls to team victory with an outstanding individual performance . She finished 3rd overall, winning a individual medal as well a gold Cork and silver Munster medal. Avril Cashman had an excellent run to finish 16th overall followed by Eva Murphy 24th and Avril Millerick on her heels in 25th. These 3 girls were also scorers on the victorious  Cork team. Alex Cashman 38th and Erin Joyce 53rd completed this amazing team which took the National Club Title with a 70 point  lead over their competitors.

The U13 were still celebrating when Lucy O Keeffe and Lesley Cashman set off on their 3500m race. Lucy had a super run to finish 18th overall winning a gold Cork team medal. Lesley finished well in 74th position.

Ciaran McNamee had a great run in the U15 boys race to finish 56th , narrowly missing out on the Cork team.

Jake McCarthy led the Youghal U17 boys team home with a super performance to finish 6th overall and win an individual medal. Killian Nolan was next home in 50th , followed closely by Simon Upton 57th. All 3 were scorers for the Cork team which unfortunately came 4th. Eoin O Brien , Tiarnan McCarthy and Dylan Lucey completed the team.

Congratulations to all who competed and enjoy a well earned break from training. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos.
