Youghal Athletic Club

(Sponsored by Youghal Credit Union)

Hello to all from Youghal AC.

Well another great day at the Emer Casey 10k, with a record 541 runners. The facilities and food was of a superb standard and I do not know of any other race that provides showers, massage, food and entertainment in such high quality. The weather was perfect for running with cloud cover and only a slight breeze. We had a total of 86 runners from Youghal AC, a great turnout and well done to all who took part. We had a number of prize winners and they all put in great performances.

M40 John Malone and Ken Harney

M45 Paul Curley

M50 Denis O’Sullivan

F40 Evelyn Cashman

F45 Celia O’Regan

MJ Adam Curley and Adam Malone

We had another great turnout of athletes at the first of the Ballycotton 5 mile summer series races in Ballandreen. For those of you who never ran this event, it is quiet hilly with the famous ‘Beast’ between mile 3 and 4. There were 23 Youghal AC runners on the night and well done again.

On the 31st May we have a new event in Kilcredan, a 5k race which I believe will be on par with the Clonpriest race and therefore a great night in store. We have a number of our club members on the organising committee so please give your support to this event. We have some development work going on in Tower Park and we hope in the near future to have a speed work night each week for the adults. Great to see all the Youghal AC hoodies on the children around town, it is excellent advertising for the club.

Finally good luck to all our Youghal runners taking part in the Cork City marathon, hope everything goes well on the day.

See you all on the roads during the week.

Club Hoodies and New jerseys are also available from Ricky and anyone looking for club tracksuits contacts Mossie Cahill, Frank Morrision or George Bulman.
