COUNTY TRACK AND FIELD JUVENILE CHAMPIONSHIPS

TRACK EVENTS

Day one of the County Track and Field Championships were held at the Cit on 4th May. Well done to all the club athletes who participated. Numbers were large in the younger age groups and well done to all those who qualified for semi-finals and finals of sprints including Poppy Devereaux, Erin Barrett, Christian Millerick, Ben Walsh, Sean O’ Connor, Natalie Pelylie, Emma Landers and Eva Murphy. There were heats in the middle distance races for the younger ages also; Grace Rooney won her heat in the G/10 500m in a time of 1.48.90 which won the County title and Avril Millerick came 3rd in a time of 1.51.30. Alex Cashman and Tara Hickey also did very well. In the G/13 600M Kerrie Barrett won with the fastest time of 1.54.78. Lucy O’ Keefe was unlucky to be 4th and Leslie Cashman was also sixth. Liam McCarthy just back from illness came 3rd in the B/15 100m. Sean Broderick won the B/16 250m hurdles in a time of 35.61. Emily O’ Keefe came 3rd in the G/17 400m in a time of 1.11. Jennifer Hennessy came 2nd in the G/17 1500m 5.42.81 and 2nd in the 300m hurdles 54.48. Killian Nolan came 4th in the B/15 1500m and Eoin O’ Brien came 6th and James Wall 9th. Eoin O’ Brien also came 4th in the B/15 200m hurdles.

FIELD EVENTS

Lauren O’ Mahoney came 2nd in the G/18 Discus with her best throw of 20.54m. Zsofia Balogh was 3rd in the G/17 Shot 7.09m. Jack Daly won the B/19 Javelin 38.96. Sean Broderick came 2nd in the B/16 High Jump 1.60m.

Avril Cashman and Emma Landers came joint 4th in the G/11 High Jump clearing 1.15m. Well done to all athletes who also achieved Pbs – keep up the training! More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos
