Even Age Cork County Cross Country Championships 02-Oct-2016

The even age Xc county championship took place on Sunday 2nd October at Conna. It was a lovely sunny day with good underfoot conditions but the strong wind and steep inclines made it a good testing course.

The U10 girls were up first with Autumn Devereaux leading the teams home in 26th position, followed closely by Taylor Aherne 28th, Phil Farrell 33rd and Ellie Walsh 42nd. Nadia O Shea, Ella Finn, Clodagh Fitzgerald , Aoibhinn O Brien and Katie Ates completed the team.

Aidan McNamee had a super run in the boys U10 race to finish 2nd overall. Keelsn Ansbro was next home in 52nd position followed by Finn Coleman , Noah Bates and Jack Coleman.

The U12 girls were up next and had to complete 2 of the 1k laps. Avril Millerick had a super run to finish 2nd overall closely followed by Sorcha Kilgannon 4th , Eireann Barrett 18th and Alex Cashman 19th. Poppi Devereaux 25th and Grace Rooney 43rd completed the team which won bronze team medals. Ruby Kennedy and Katie Ansbro also had great runs.

The U12 boys were led home by Liam O Connor who finished 16th overall, closely followed by Ben Walsh 17th , Charlie O Neill 26th and Jude Buckley 30th. Barry Walsh was next home in 32nd position with Ethan O Driscoll 36th. Ronin Joyce and Colm Cowhig completed the team .

A great display of team work was shown by the Youghal girls in the U14 girls race, with Avril Cashman leading the girls home in 10th place , Eva Murphy 11th , Emma Landers 12th , Erin Joyce 17th and Robyn Buckley 19th. These girls , all running up an age , secured team gold medals. Caoimhe McMahon and Natasha Kilgannon completed the team.

Ciaran McNamee led the U14 boys race from the start to win comfortably. Ross Williams was next home 24th , with Rory Motherway 28th. Unfortunately the boys were short one scorer for a team.

Lucy O Keeffe led the Youghal girls home with a super performance in the U16 girls 4000m race to finish 2nd overall. Lesley Cashman had a great run to finish 7th , with Kerry Barrett finishing 18th. Unfortunately they were short one scorer for a team.

The U16 boys were led home by Jake McCarthy 3rd , followed by Dean Savage 18th ,Dylan Lucey 19th and Darragh Buckley 23rd. Great scoring by the boys to secure bronze team medals.

Aine O Regan and Sarah Williams competed in the U18 girls race to finish 11th and 15th respectively.

The U 18 boys finished the day with gold medal winning performances. Simon Upton led the team home in 6th position , closely followed by Killian Nolan 7th , Tiarnan McCarthy 9th and Eoin O Brien 12th.
