The National Uneven age XC was held at Navan racecourse on Saturday 15th Dec. YOUGHAL AC had 14 athletes competing on the day in stormy conditions. Despite the wind and rain , ground conditions were reasonably good although after a few races the surface was getting muddy and slippy.

Our U11 girls were up first with Taylor Aherne leading the YOUGHAL girls home with a brilliant race to finish 14th overall. She won a gold Munster team medal and Cork gold team medal. Vivien Millerick was next home with a super 31st position finish , to win a gold Cork team medal. Autumn Devereaux finished 60th followed by Emily Barry, Karolina Kadlikova and Tess Cummins.

Emma Landers had an outstanding performance in the U15 girls 3500m race. She was in the leading bunch from the start and made a final surge in the last tough uphill home straight to come from 30m behind to take the National title. Her delight was enhanced by the super performances of her team mates Avril and Alex Cashman who both also took individual National medals ,finishing 9th and 12th respectively. Emma and Avril also won silver Munster team medals. Avril Millerick also had a super run to finish 31st, with all 4 girls scoring on the Cork team which took gold. Erin Joyce and Eva Murphy completed this amazing team which took Club team gold, with the best team score of the day.

Lucy O Keeffe had a brilliant run in the U17 girls race to finish 6th overall, winning an individual National medal. She also won a gold Munster medal and silver Cork team medal.

Jake McCarthy had a fantastic run in the U19 boys 6000m race to finish 26th overall. He won a silver Cork team medal.
