20220410 - Race Report (East Cork Track & Field - Day 1)

The East Cork Division T&F Championships - Day 1 2022 took place at the MTU Track on Sunday 10th April.

About 30 athletes made the trip to Cork, many of which were having their first race of the year and some appearing in the Youghal AC singlet for the very first time. All participants performed admirably on the day giving it their best effort.

In the sprints, there were medals for Taylor Aherne (U15G – Silver), Chloe McCarthy (U12G – Bronze) and Layla O’ Callaghan (U11G – Silver). James Kelleher took home Gold in the U10B 200m Race 1.

In the Middle Distance, there was Gold for Avril Millerick in the U17/19G 800m, Silver for Clodagh Walsh in the U13G 600m and Silver for Chloe McCarthy in the U12G 600m.

Caoimhe Brennan secured Bronze in the U13G Long Jump and Relay Silvers were bagged by the U10 Boys and U12 Girls.

Athletes have a couple of weeks now to dust themselves down and put in some more training before Day 2 on 24^th April, being held at Tower Park, Youghal.
