October '24 Round Up

20241006 Weekend Review

Youghal AC athletes, young and old, took to the roads (and the air) last weekend to fulfil their running schedules...

First up on Sunday morning was Maurice Walsh, who took on the Lisbon Marathon, a mere 3 days after attending a friends wedding in nearby Albufeira. No stranger to the marathon distance, Maurice crossed the finish line in a fantastic 3:25:10 in searing heat and humidity.

Next up was our 6 athletes who took the long journey to Co. Meath on Sunday morning for the Irish 3/4 marathon in Longwood - fantastic preparation for upcoming marathons in Dublin and Valencia.. Well done to Keith Kelly who finished 15th overall, and the results were as follows:

Keith Kelly 2:01:52

Deirdre Ansbro 2:31:29

Tom Leahy 2:55:15

Sean Casey 2:58:11

Brendan Coleman 3:00:33

Donal Sheehan 3:08:19

Then it was the turn of our juvenile division who took to the County Cross Country Championships in Ballynoe. Some great performances, led by Olan Rochford, who got a medal in the U12 Boys race. Well done to all who took part and represented the club

Well done to our 20 young athletes who travelled to the Juvenile Uneven-Age Cross-Country County Championships at Carrigadrohid, Macroom yesterday, and represented the club with aplomb.

Congratulations to Olan Rochford who won the U13 Boys 2.5km race in a great time of 9:34 to become county champion, a week on from medalling in his own U12 category

Further afield in Dublin, Avril Cashman took part in the hotly contested Autumn Open XC in Dublin over the weekend!!

Well done to club member George Bulman, inspiring the next generation of Bulman's, at the Solas 10km Run for Life in Waterford City over the weekend.. A great family photo πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Dublin Marathon 2024

Well done to all our Dublin marathoners and support squad for their efforts yesterday πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘. What a day and Dublin never disappoints. Plenty of people suffering FOMO on the sidelines and many inspired. Thanks for the memories and enjoy the R&R and downtime in the coming days ❀
