Jennifer Hennessy wins U15 800m title

Lauren O' Mahoney 2nd in U16 Javelin

Youghal AC had 6 athletes in action at the National Championships who competed very well in their events. Jennifer Hennessy won the G/15 800m title in a time of 2.23.59; she looked relaxed throughout the first lap and went into the lead with 100m to go and won well. This was a tremendous achievement for Jennifer and her first National title. Lauren O' Mahoney also had an excellent throw of 33.10m a huge PB in the G/16 Javelin on Saturday to earn her the silver medal; she was very close to the winner who threw 33.59m.

Sam McSweeney finished in an excellent 6th position in the B/12 High Jump clearing 1.20m; this was his first All Ireland competition and is very new to athletics. Matthew Cody showed tremendous potential in the B/12 600m finishing barely outside the medal position in 4th but achieving a huge PB of 1.46.64. He had an excellent race in a very fast field. Conor Forde did very well in the B/15 Triple Jump finishing in 4th place and achieving a PB of 9.34m. He finished on 8th place in the High Jump. Fearghal Curtin also did very well in a very fast field in the B/15 800m finishing strongly in 5th in a time of 2.12.33.

On day three of the All Irelands the club have five athletes in action on the 28th July- Fearghal Curtin U15 1500m, Jennifer Hennessy U15 1500m, Patricia Curtin U19 Javelin, Faye O' Brien U18 Javelin and High Jump and Lauren O' Mahoney U16 Shot.
