Munster U14 to U19 Track and Field Championships

The above Championships were held at the Cit on 28th and 29th June. The club had only 7 athletes in action and all did very well. Lauren O’ Mahoney won three medals. She won the U18 Javelin with her best throw of 32.60m. She was 2nd in the Shot 9.69m; she was 3rd in the Discus 20.53m and 5th in the Hammer 21.59m. Tirna Cahill was competing in the U14 Hammer and finished 5th with her best throw of 23.64m which is a PB for her. Well done girls! Jake Holmes who has just started training participated in the U16 Javelin and finished 7th with his throw of 19.99m.

Jake McCarthy ran well in the U14 1500m finishing well up the field in 6th position in a time of 5.01.96. In the u15 1500m race Killian Nolan battled for third place and was just pipped in the finishing straight to finish fourth which qualifies him for the All Irelands. Mikey Cahill running in his first Championship race for the club ran very well and finished in a good 10th place in a time of 5.16.83. Fearghal Curtin won the U17 1500m in a time of 4.10.95. Killian Nolan had a great run in the U15 800m finishing 3rd and achieved a very good PB of 2.14. Likewise Fearghal Curtin who opted to run the 800m instead of the 3000m achieved a PB OF 2.00,32 winning the U17 race. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos
