20220512 – Youghal AC 5km Road Race

261 runners toed the start line on a perfect evening for racing and made their way through the support laden streets of Youghal on a looped course passing under the iconic Clock Tower a total of 3 times - a route forever linked to the late Emer Casey. We had 73 local runners and 60 different clubs represented.

Youghal AC were well represented with 46 runners and well done to all, especially those who won category prizes in their respected divisions – Keith Kelly 1st M40-44, Brendan Coleman 3rd M45-49, Mary O’ Mahony 2nd F55-59, Eddie O’ Regan 1st 60-64, George Bulman 2nd 60-64, Sylvie O’ Mahony 1st M65-69, Izabella Chidlow 1st JL and Luke O’ Shea 1st JM

Well done also to Kate McCarthy on winning our Emer Casey Memorial prize. Emer would have been 43 this year and Youghal AC and the Casey family marked this by presenting a prize to the 43rd lady overall on the night.

A massive thanks also to all of our local sponsors whose kind donation and generous prizes helped make the race and fundraiser for the club a huge success. Thanks also to our volunteers on the evening and to everyone who baked and made sandwiches.
