The All Ireland Schools XC was held in Mallusk playing fields, Belfast on Sat 11th March . Despite the mild day , underfoot conditions were soft and the course was an excellent test of strength and skills for the 6 Youghal AC athletes that competed on the day.

Avril Cashman was up first in the Minor girls 2000m race. She worked her way through the fields and finished strongly in 22nd position.

Lucy O Keeffe was up next in the junior girls 2550m race . She finished well in 19th position in a very competitive field.

Ciaran McNamee ran in the junior boys 3600m race and battled hard to finish well in 31st position.

Jake McCarthy , Pobal Scoil na Trionoide put in a super performance in the Intermediate Boys 5200m race . He fought hard throughout and sprinted to the end to finish a fantastic 6th overall. This puts Jake in a super position for selection for the Irish intermediate school boys team. Killian Nolan also put in a great performance to finish 50th overall and the 3rd scorer for his CBC cork school team.

Fearghal Curtin ran well in the senior boys race despite illness during the week and an apparent injury on the day. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos
