The uneven age county Xc championship was held in Carrigadrohid on Sunday 9th October on what turned out to be a very warm day. The heat however made conditions on this tough undulating course even more difficult for our athletes.
Our U 9 girls were up first with Taylor Aherne leading the girls home to finish a super 10th position. Autumn Devereaux was next in 15th place followed by Amy Coleman 40th. Great running by the girls who were short one scorer for a team.
Finn Coleman led the U9 boys team home with a super performance to finish 12th overall. Jimmy Nicholson was next in 24th position followed by Keelan Ansbro 34th and Jack O Neill 49th.
Sorcha Kilgannon had a super run in the U11 girls 1500m race to lead the field from the off and become county champion . Eireann Barrett was next home in 15th place , closely followed by Poppi Devereaux 16th and Rachel Murray 22nd , to secure team gold medals. Ruby Kennedy and Katie Ansbro completed the team.
The U11 boys were up next and Ben Walsh was first for the team in 19th position, followed by Jude Buckley 27th , Barry Walsh 38th , Paddy Nicholson 52nd and Ethan O Driscoll 57th. Ronin Joyce , Lui Phipps and Jack Coleman completed the team.
Avril Cashman led the U13 girls team home to finish a super 3rd overall, with Emma Landers a close 4th. Eva Murphy was next in 7th, closely followed by Avril Millerick 8th , Alex Cashman 10th and Erin Joyce 11th. Great running by the girls to secure team gold medals . The U13 boys ran well as a team with Rory Motherway leading them home in 31st position, closely followed by Ross Williams 34th and Nathan O Halloran 38th. Alex Kennedy was next in 47th place , with Christian Milllerick 48th.
Lesley Cashman led the U15 girls team home to finish 11th overall. Hannah Fitzgerald was next in 19th position followed by Kerry Barrett 22nd . Unfortunately they were short one scorer for a team.

The U17 girls were up next and Aine O Regan finished in 11th position , followed by Karyn Collins 17th and Molly O Neill 18th. Unfortunately Sarah Williams had to withdraw due to illness.
The last race of the day was the U17 boys 5k . Jake McCarthy had a super run to lead the race and his team to win individual gold. Killian Nolan finished strong in 6th position followed by Simon Upton 9th, Eoin O Brien 12th and Dylan Lucey 15th. Great running by the lads to win team gold medals.
