East Cork XC Even Age 17-Sep-2017

The spikes were found , the winter woolies take out (and then discarded) and the sat nav set to find a field in Ballynoe- yes , cross country season has begun.

The sun was shining when our U10 girls started proceedings for the East cork XC championship in Ballynoe. Vivien Millerick led the team with an outstanding run to finish 2nd overall . Taylor Aherne battled hard all the way to the line to finish joint 3rd. She was closely followed by Autumn Devereaux 5th and Niamh Murray 18th . Aine Collins 21st and Lauren O Brien 24th completed the team that won silver.

A great team of 14 lined up for the U10 boys 1000m . Jimmy Nicholson led the team home to finish a fantastic 4th . He was closely followed by Darragh Murray 5th , Mathew Murrray 8th and Keelan Ansbro 9th. Cian Hogan 18th was next home , closely followed by Cathal Brennan 19th and Jack O Neill 22nd. Leo Nicholson, Conor O Sullivan ,David O Connor , Enda Terry , Fiona Breathnach, Donnacha Coleman and Quin Buckley completed this strong team which took gold.

Sorcha Kilgannon had a super run in the U12 girls 1500m to take individual silver . She was closely followed by Eireann Barrett 8th , Poppi Devereaux 9th and Isabella Chidlow 10th. Ruby Kennedy finished 14th , with Katie Ansbro sprinting to take 18th place. Nadia O Shea , Eva Curran , Clodagh Fitzgerald and Aoibhinn O Brien completed the team.

Jude Buckley had a great run in the U12 boys race to finish a fantastic 8th overall. He was followed by Paddy Nicholson 15th and Drew Kenny 16th. Ronin Joyce and Fionn Brennan completed the team.

Emma Landers had an outstanding run to win the east cork U14 title . She was closely followed by Avril Cashman who took individual bronze. Erin Joyce finished a super 5th , with Avril Millerick 6th and Alex Cashman 7th. Eva Murphy followed in 9th , with Robyn Buckley 11th , Rion Walsh 14th and Natasha Kilgannon completing this super team which took gold.

Charlie O Neill and Ross Williams performed well in the U14boys race but were unfortunate not to have a team on the day.

Lesley Cashman had a super run to win the U16 girls 3000m and take the east Cork title.

Ciaran McNamee had a great run to win the U16 boys race and take the east cork title too. Ben Terry also put in a strong performance in this race .

Aine O Regan finished strong in the U18 girls race to complete our juvenile races on a very successful day. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos
