County Track and Field Championships Day 2 - 11th May 2014

COUNTY JUVENILE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS – DAY TWO
Day two of the County Track and Field Championships were held on 11th May at the Cit. The club had a large number of athletes in action and well done to everyone.
Grace Rooney, Tara Hickey, Alex Cashman and Avril Millerick qualified for the G/10 semi-final in the 60m. Avril and Grace got to the final which was won by Grace. Avril was 6th.
Peter Buckley qualifed for the B/14 semi-final in which he was 5th. Sean Broderick had a good win in the B/16 100m 11.90. Brid McCarthy was 4th in the G/16 100m. Enda Cronin also qualified for the B/12 semi-final.
Ben Walsh was 6th in the B/9 300m. Erin Barrett was 4th in her 300m heat and finished 4th in the Long Jump. In the G/ 600m heats Avril Cashman was 3rd and Emma Landers 6th; in the 2nd heat Eva Murphy was 3rd and Robyn Buckley 8th. Avril finsihed 4th overall. In the B/11 600 heats Christian Millerick was 6th and Ross Williams was 9th in the second heat. Killian Nolan was just pipped for 3rd and finished 4th in a super race in a time of 2.16 Pb. James Wall was 10th. Jennifer Hennessy won the G/17 800m in a time of 2.38.19. In the G/13 Sprint hurdlesboth Leslie Cashman and Kerry Barrett qualifed for the final. Kerry was 4th and Leslie 5th.
Lauren O’ Mahoney won the G/18 javelin 31.70m and was 2nd in the Discus 21.56m and 2nd in the Hammer 21.56m. Jack Daly won the B/19 Shot 10.07m. Tirna Cahill won her first medal in the Hammer event with a good throw of 19.45m. Grace Rooney won her third County title when she won the G/10 Turbo Javelin event., In the B/13 Shot Conor Greene got a Pb 6.03m as did Tom Wall 7.03m. Tom Wall was 4th in the B/13 High Jump 1.35m narrowly missing 1.40m. Conor Greene cleared 1.15m. Sean O’ Connor was 4th in the B/11 Long Jump and Ross Williams, Christian Millerick and Michael Wall also participated. Michael Wall was 4th in the B/11 High Jump clearing 1.10m. Well done to all our athletes.
Those athletes who participated in the Counties in the U9 to U13 age group and who did not win a medal can enter the County B Championships on 25th May- entries to be given to Gillian Wall. The relays are also on the 25th May. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos
