Day 1 of the County Cross Country took place in Carrignavar on Sunday 4th October. It was a lovely , fairly flat course with good underfoot conditions. the strong wind however was the biggest challenge of the day.

Our U 10 girls were up first and didn't disappoint . Emily Brennar led the team on the 1k route to come home 4th overall to get an individual county medal. Eireann Barrett was next in 9th position followed closely by Poppy Devereaux 12th and Sorcha Kilgallon 18th. Ruby Kennedy , Katie Ansbro and Clodagh Fitzgerald completed the team who got Bronze county team medals.

The U10 boys were short a few members on the day so couldn't field a team. Ronan O Brien , Fionn Brennan and Aidan McNamee were not phased by this and bravely line up to run the 1000m . Ronan finished strongly in 26th position , with Fionn 66th.

Ten girls from Youghal AC lined up for the U12 girls 2000m race. These girls had a super race and won gold team medals. Emma Landers finished in 3rd place overall to earn an individual medal. She was followed by Avril Cashman who finished 7th despite a fall in the first lap. Robyn Buckley was next in 9th position with Eva Murphy 10th , Erin Joyce 11th, Avril Millerick 12th and Alex Cashman 13th.
