The club had five athletes in action at the All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships on Saturday 7th March at Clongowes Wood College in Clane, Co. Kildare.

There were very big fields and competition was fierce over a flat course with tight bends, Jake McCarthy and Killian Nolan competed in the Junior Boys 3,500m race. Jake finished in 30th and Killian in 38th. Both competed very well and Killian’s CBC team came 6th which was a very good result at this level. Jake competed for Pobalscoil ne Trionoide, Youghal.

In the Intermediate race (U/17) Fearghal Curtin, Eoin O’ Brien and Simon Upton competed as part of the Midleton CBS team. Running up front was a very tight and crowded for a good part of the race with breaks from leading group only appearing in the last lap. The race finished with six lads finishing closely together with 2nd, 3rd and 4th going over the line together. Fearghal finished 4th in a time of 16.37 winning an individual medal. Simon Upton and Eoin O’ Brien who are young in this category also finished well and this 5,000m distance is new for them also. They can also compete in this category next year.
