Munster Juvenile Cross Country Championship
Both days of the Munster Juvenile Cross Country Championships took place in Two Mile Borris, Co.Tipperary Oct 24th & 31st in which we had 6 teams competing.
Our U9 boys team competed magnificently in the U9B 750M race with Shay Walsh leading the team home in 30th position, Ernie Sharkey 36th, Peter McGuigan 69th, A.J. Leahy 70th, Jeffrey Nicholson 88th & James Kelleher 96th placing the team in 7th place.
U10 boys Odhran O’Sullivan, Tadhg Collins, Micheal Coleman & Ciaran McGrath all had great runs in the 1K race finishing 55th, 80th, 87th & 105th respectively placing them 13th club team. Odhran also competed well up an age in the U11 race finishing 93rd overall. Naoise Ni Laoire & Kelly Walsh also competed well in the U10 girls race.
Chloe McCarthy had a fantastic run in the U11 girls 1500M race finishing the 8th Individual medal position qualifying her to the All-Ireland championship on both the Munster & Cork Teams, Chloe scored for Cork on the day to win County Team Gold. Lucy Mae Kelleher & Caoimhe Walsh also had great runs in the same race to finish 86th & 111th respectively.
Carthach O’Laoire competed well in the U12 2K race placing 98th and Ruby Devereaux had a great run in the same race finishing 33rd overall & 9th finisher from Cork qualifying him to the National championships on the Cork Team.
Our 13 boys team all ran fantastically as a team in the 2,500M with Donnacha Coleman finishing 63rd, Conor O’Sullivan 66th, Quin Buckley 67th & Leo Nicholson 79th placing the team in 12th position.
Aine Collins & Molly O’Brien had super individual runs in the U13G race with Aine placing 61st & Molly 97th.
Amy Coleman & Vivien Millerick had super runs in the U14G 3K race where Amy placed 61st & Vivien finished 11th Individual medal position qualifying her to the All-Ireland championship on both the Munster & Cork Teams, Vivien also scored for Cork to win County Team Silver.
Jude Buckley had an excellent run in a very competitive U16 boys field placing 35th overall.
Liam O’Connor ran brilliantly both days placing 10th medal position in the U17 5K race & 10th medal position in the U18B 6K race qualifying him automatically on both Munster & County teams to the U17 & U18 All-Ireland Championships. Liam also won U18 County Team gold.
The U17 Girls Team placed 4th team thus qualifying them to the U17 All-Ireland championship in Gowran. Avril Millerick led the team home winning herself Individual Gold, followed by Alex Cashman in 9th individual medal position, Ailise Barry in 44th & Izabella Chidlow in 47th .
Alex Cashman & Avril Millerick also ran up an age in the U18 Munster championship with their fellow clubmates Emma Landers, Avril Cashman & Robyn Buckley to win outright the Club Team Gold title. Avril Millerick finished 2nd winning individual Silver followed closely by Emma in 4th individual medal position, Avril Cashman 5th medal position, Alex 7th medal position & Robyn 30th.
Robyn, Avril Cashman & Emma ran again up an age in the U19 race where all three finished in the top 12 individual medal positions: Emma Landers 4th, Avril Cashman 5th & Robyn Buckley 12th helping them to win club team gold and all scored well for Cork to win county team gold.
