Munster Cross Country Championships – Uneven Ages November 13th 2011

Well done to all the Youghal AC athletes who travelled to compete in the Uneven ages Muster Cross Country Championships at Powerstown Park, Clonmel on Sunday 13th November. The course was challenging with a nice uphill climb on the bigger lap. Weather conditions were good.
The first race saw our Girls U/9 team in action including Caoilfhionn Barry 39th, Kira Fitzgerald 43rd, Aimee Morgan 45th, Hazel Nolan 59th, Sarah Kate Dorgan 69th, Amy McCarthy 75th and Zoe Whelan 80th. Their team placing was 7th in a large field.
Girls U/11 included Rebecca O’ Sullivan 43rd, Ciara Leahy 78th, Faith McEvitt 96th, Tirna Cahill 90th and Lauraleigh Baker 107th. This race is to be re-run in Limerick on 20th October in conjunction with the Munster Bs due to an error on the start line.
Boys U/11 – Jake McCarthy had a brilliant run to come in 6th place to win an individual medal and was the first scorer for Cork who won gold in the inter-county. Next in was Sam McSweeney 37th, Matthew Cody 47th and Peter Buckley 79th. Their team came 6th.
Girls U/13 included Aine O’ Regan 71st, Karynn Collins 73rd, Jayne O’ Sullivan 81st and Tara Murphy 82nd. Boys U/13 – Killian Nolan again had a very good run to come in 27th and was the 5th scorer on the Cork team which came 3rd. Next in was Eoin O’ Brien 40th Eoghan Dorgan 66th and William Baker 86th.
Sarah O’ Sullivan who is showing great improvement came 23rd in the U/15 and was the 5th scorer on the Cork team which came 2nd. Fearghal Curtin had a strong run also to come in 6th in the u/15 race thus winning an individual medal and he was the 3rd scorer on the Cork team which won the inter-county competition.
Patricia Curtin finished 20th and was the third scorer on the Cork team which was unlucky to finish in 4th place.
