  • Eoin O’ Brien, Killian Nolan and Jake McCarthy win Cork team medals in U/13 race

  • Jennifer Hennessy wins Cork team medal in U/15 race.

  • Fearghal Curtin wins U/15 Cross Country title.

Youghal AC had 10 athletes in action at Adamstown, Co.Wexford on 9th December last. Lucy O’ Keefe and Kerrie Barrett ran in the U/11 race both girls on the Cork team and Lucy on the Munster team. Lucy had a tremendous run finishing very in a tightly packed group; she was coming in 4th and was just passed before the finish line to finish 5th. Lucy also won a Cork and Munster team medals both gold; she was the 2nd scorer on both teams.. Kerrie Barrett also had a very good run and narrowly missed out on a Cork team medal.

The club had a club team in the Boys U/13 race including Jake McCarthy, Killian Nolan, Eoin O’ Brien, Sam McSweeney, Matthew Cody and Rory Donnellan. The team finished in 7th place and were just short 19 points for a medal position. This was a great achievement as four of these lads were running in their first All Irelands and have lots of potential. Jake finished in 28th , Killian in 30th and Eoin in 38th which was good enough to score on the Cork team thus winning inter-county gold medals.

Jennifer Hennessy also had a good run in the U/15 race to finish well up the field and was the 4th scorer on the Cork team which was 3rd. Fearghal Curtin had a great race going into the lead at a very early stage and won by approximately 120m. This was his 6th consecutive title in his own age group. Cork and Munster were just outside medal positions in this race. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos

Many thanks to Theresa Barrett, Michelle Nolan for all their help and all parents, coaches and supporters who put in tremendous effort in making the day enjoyable for the athletes and in organising evening party on return.
