Cork Juvenile Cross Country Even Ages 01-Oct-2017

The county athletics board field in Riverstick was the venue for the even age county XC championship. The rainfall over the previous few days ,combined with the undulating terrain made this a very challenging course.

Our U10 girls got the day off to a great start with Vivien Millerick leading the team home in 8th position , closely followed by Taylor Aherne in 10th position. Autumn Devereaux finished strongly in 22nd place followed by Aine Collins, Niamh Murray, Aine O Brien and Lauren Keating.

The U10 Youghal boys were out in force. Enda Millerick , Jimmy Nicholson, Jack O Neill Conor O Sullivan and David O Connor all put in great performances. There were strong runs also by Quin Buckley, Donnacha Coleman, Leo Nicholson, Enda Terry and Tadgh O Brien.

The U12 girls were up next and Sorcha Kilgannon led the team home in 6th position , winning an individual county medal. Eireann Barrett had a strong run to finish 16th closely followed by Poppi Devereaux 17th. Izabella Chidlow completed the scoring in 22nd position with Ruby Kennedy 30th and Katie Ansbro 34th. Great running by the team who finished 4th, loosing out on team medals by just 2 points.

Jude Buckley led the U12 Youghal boys over the 2000m course to finish 41st overall. Drew Kenny was next in 47th position followed by Paddy Nicholson 58th. Ronin Joyce , Lui Phipps and Caolan O Brien completed the team.

Our U14 girls gave the performance of the day , winning team gold in style. Emma Landers paced it well and took this tough muddy course in her stride , to take the County title. Avril Cashman put in a strong performance to take silver with Avril Millerick 5th , also taking an individual County medal. Alex Cashman sprinted to the line to complete the team scoring in 8th position , followed by Erin Joyce 12th and Eva Murphy 15th. Robyn Buckley had a great run to finish 23rd followed by Grace Rooney 31st , Juliette Nicholson 41st and Natasha Kilgannon 44th.

Charlie O Neill had a super run in the U14 boys race to finish 15th ,followed by Ross Williams 26th.

Lucy O Keeffe had an outstanding run in the U16 girls 4000m race to take silver. Lesley Cashman had a great run too to finish 7th just outside the medals. Ciaran McNamee finish well in 9th position in the Boys U16 race , with Cian Nicholson 16th.

Aine O Regan had a great run in the U18 girls race .

Jake McCarthy finished well in 4th in the U18 boys race to take an individual county medal . Killian Nolan ran well but had to retire due to illness.
