Cork County Track & Field Championships 01-May-2016

Day 1 of the County T&F championship was held on Sunday 1st May at CIT. It was great to see so many of the younger athletes from Youghal AC competing for the first time at county level.

Autumn Devereaux, Amy Coleman and Jimmy Nicholson competed U9 . While Clodagh Fitzgerald , Nadia O Shea , Jack Coleman, Fionn Brennan, Aidan McNamee and Paddy Nicholson competed U10.

Eireann Barrett, Poppy Devereaux, Sorcha Kilgannon , Katie Ansbro and Rachel Murray competed U11G with Poppy winning silver in the shot with a great throw of 5.8m.

Harry Connon came 3rd in high jump U11 with a jump of 1.22m, while Ethan O Driscoll ran superbly in the U11 sprints to come 2nd in a very competitive final. Paddy Nicholson, Ronan Joyce , Ben Walsh and Ralph Cashman also competed U11.

Juliette Nicholson, Tara Hickey , Sophie Connon, Avril Millerick and Alex Cashman all competed U12G. Tara came 3rd in shot with a throw of 6.07m. Sophie jumped 3.66m in long jump to come 3rd and was an unlucky 4th in the sprint hurdles. Avril Millerick came 3rd in 600m.

Natasha Kilgannon, Joy Nicholson, Emma Landers, Eva Murphy, Robyn Buckley and Avril Cashman competed U13G. Robyn won silver in the high jump clearing 1.33m . Avril was an unlucky 4th in the discus.

Nathan O Halloran , Christian Millerick and Ross Williams competed U13B. Christian came 2nd in hammer , throwing 18.2m. Nathan came 2nd in javelin with a throw of 23.7m while Christian came 4th.

Ciaran McNamee had a brilliant win in the U14B 1500m. Lucy Nicholson competed U14G .

Lucy O Keeffe, Kerry Barrett and Lesley Barrett competed U15G. Lesley won bronze in the discus. Lucy came 2nd in 1500m with Lesley 6th . Kerry and Lesley both qualified for final of long hurdles and finished well in 4th and 5th respectively.

Darragh Buckley and Cian Nicholson competed in U15B 1500m.

Jake McCarthy and Dylan Lucey competed U16B 1500m . Jake won silver with Dylan finishing 6th.

Killian Nolan had a great win in U17B 1500m .Liam McCarthy finished 3rd in U17 sprints.
