County B Juvenile Cross Country Championships - 19th Oct 2014

The club had 18 athletes in action at the County B Championships in Castlelyons on Sunday 19th October. 14 Medals were won. Well done to the host club who did a magnificent job. All of these athletes had already participated in the A Championships and showed tremendous improvement and some fine performances were witnessed.

Girls U9This young team was led home by Poppy Devereaux who featured in the individual medals in 6th place. Great runs were also produced by Aoibhe Daly 10th, Ruby Kennedy 13th, Katie Ansboro 14th and Aileen Hallahan 22nd. The girls won the 2nd team prize behind Belgooly so all girls won silver County team medals.

Boys U9

Daniel Nolan had a very strong run at the front of the field and finished 2nd to take the silver medal. Sean Lynch 17th and Ronan Joyce 22nd also ran well. They were short one boy for team scoring.

Girls U11

Super runs were also produced by Robyn Buckley 5th who won a bronze individual medal and also by Erin Joyce in 8th place.

Boys U11

This team was also short one lad for team scoring but the athletes did well in a large field with Christian Mellirick first home in 16th, Liam O’ Connor in 19th and Alex Kennedy in 35th place.

Girls U13

This team was led home by Kerrie Barrett in 4th place and Aimee Morgan in 5th place. Both of these girls won bronze individual medals. Leslie Cashman finished in 16th place and Hazel Nolan was the fourth scorer. Hazel lost her shoe out on the course and was took a very courageous decision to keep going for her team. A big well done to Hazel! The girls won third team prize.

Girls U15

Tirna Cahill was on her own in this race and running a year out of her age. Tirna had a very good run.

It was very encouraging to see these athletes doing so well and improving with every race. Well done to the fabulous display of running by Ruth Mellerick, Mossie Cahill, Tomas Ward, Warren Terry in the Novice B Championships which followed the juvenile races – report to follow by Senior PRO.
