East Cork Uneven Age Cross Country Championship 06-Nov-2016

The EAST CORK UNEVEN AGE XC was held in Carrignavar on Sunday 6th November. Youghal AC was well represented on this lovely dry day, with super performances by all.

The U9 girls started well with Taylor Aherne finishing 3rd overall , closely followed by Autumn Devereaux 4th. Megan Byrne was next home in 17th position, with Amy Coleman 19th. Great running by these girls to win team bronze medals.

The U9 boys were up next and were led home by Jimmy Nicholson 2nd, Keelan Ansbro 3rd and Finn Coleman 4th. Jack ONeill completed team scoring in 14th position, with Ryan Tutty 16th, Craig Grainge 17th and Memphis Bullard 23rd. The boys won team gold medals.

Sorcha Kilgannon finished a super 2nd in the U11 girls race. She was followed by Poppi Devereaux 6th and Rachel Murray 7th. Ruby Kennedy 12th completed scoring to ensure team silver medals. Clodagh Fitzgerald was next in 15th position, with Katie Ansbro 16th and Nadia O Shea 17th. Clara Woods and Nadine Barry completed the team.

There was another super performance by the Youghal boys in the U11 race. Jude Buckley finished a fantastic 3rd just ahead of Ben Walsh 4th. Paddy Nicholson was next in 14th position followed by Ethan O Driscoll 15th. Ronan Joyce , Colm Cowhig , Lu Phibbs and Jack Coleman completed the team which won silver team medals.

A great display of team work was shown in the U13 girls race with 6 Youghal girls leading the field from the start. They ran together until the last 200m when their competitive spirits took over and they battled it out for the top positions. Avril Cashman edged in front to win the race , with Emma Landers 2nd and Avril Millerick 3rd. Eva Murphy 4th , out sprinted Alex Cashman 5th and Robyn Buckley 6th. Rion Walsh had a great run to finish 11th , with Grace Rooney 15th and Natasha Kilgannon 22nd. These girls won the team competition.

Rory Motherway , Ross Williams , Charlie O Neill and Alex Kennedy were up next in the U13 boys race. They all ran well to secure team silver medals.

In the U15 girls race , Lucy O Keeffe led the team to finish 2nd overall, followed by Lesley Cashman 3rd . Hannah Fitzgerald 5th and Caoimhe McMahon 7th completed the team which won gold .

Ciaran McNamee finished 3rd in the U15 boys race. He was followed by Cian Nicholson and Ben Terry.

The U17 girls won team silver medals following great runs by Aine O Regan 7th , Molly O Neill 9th and Sarah Williams 10th.

Simon Upton won the U17 boys race followed by Killian Nolan 2nd.
