Hello to all from Youghal AC.

Youghal AC Ladies and Men’s team competed at round two of the Woodies DIY National Track and Field League at Tullamore on 22nd July in an endeavour to qualify for the final on 19th August. After two days of competition the Youghal Ladies finished in 7th position which qualifies them in the top eight for the final. The men's team finished in 12th place narrowly missing out as points were very close. A special thanks to our superb guests on both teams Aileen Hurley (Gr. Fermoy), Aideen Hallahan (Midleton), Diarmuid Hickey (RIverstick/Kinsale) and Daniel Colbert (Midleton). It was also great to see welcome additions to the teams on day two, Deirrdre Cronin, Cian Greene, Jack Daly and Adam Malone. These athletes took part in all field events as well as track events and it is great to see the talent that now exists within Youghal AC.

A Special mention this week must go to Patricia Curtin had a tremendous day in the All-Ireland Track and Field in the under 19 Javelin and won her first National title with an excellent PB of 38.23m.

Plenty races going on at the moment with many Youghal winners at the events. One of our prize winners at a recent event was very upset when he did not receive his prize and sent several e-mails of protest, glad you got your prize Ed. Another member of our mens team has invented a new running method (D Mac Shuffle) for downhill running, check out the D Mac photograph at the latest Novartis race below ...Photo by: Doug Minihane.

Good to see all the people training for the forth coming Dublin City Marathon make sure you all keep healthy and drink and eat well.
