Youghal AC Athletes do well at Munster Track And Field Championships

Youghal AC had ten athletes in action at the Munster Schools' Track and Field Championships on Saturday 19th May at the CIT track in Bishopstown. All gave great performances at the Championships where standards were extremely high.

Patrcia Curtin competed in the Senior Triple Jump and came 5th with her best jump of 9m. She came 2nd in the Senior Javelin 30.91m. Lauren O' Mahoney competed in the Inter Javelin and got a PB of 27.58m and finished 2nd. Jo Burke also competed in this event and finished 4th 18.83m. Cian Greene came 3rd in the Intermediate 200m in a time of 23.89 and 2nd in the 100m 11.66 in a very tight finish. Lydia Blanc had a good 2nd placing in the Junior Triple Jump with her best jump of 9m. Lydia is very new to athletics and this was a very good achievement. Jennifer Hennessy had a strong win in the Junior 800m in a time of 2.22.8. Fearghal Curtin who ran in the Junior 1500m also had a very good race to finish 4th and to achieve his 3rd PB in two weeks of 4.29.5. Diarmuid Clancy ran in the Minor 800m to finish in 5th place in a time of 2.24.8. Sean Broderick had a great win in the Minor 100m in a time of 12.83. Sean is showing great form this season. Sean Broderick and Fearghal also competed in the Minor relay team for Midleton CBS which finished 3rd.

Best of luck to Patricia Curtin (Sen Javelin), Lauren O' Mahoney (Inter Javelin), Cian Greene (Inter 100m), Jennifer Hennessy (Junior 800m), Fearghal Curtin (Junior 1500m) and Lydia Blanc (Junior Triple Jump) who have all qualified for the All Ireland's Track and Field Championships which will be held in Tullamore on Saturday 2nd June. Patricia and Lydia will represent Pobalscoil na Trionoide, Youghal: Cian and Fearghal will represent Midleton CBS and Jennifer and Lauren will competed for St. Mary's High School, Midleton. There is no All Irelands for the Minors in Track and Field.
