Munster B Cross Country Championships – Juveniles – 1st December, 2013
The Munster B Cross Country Championships were held in Beaufort, Killarney on Sunday 1st December. The course was good and weather conditions were mild. A very enjoyable day was experienced by all families in attendance. Great running was displayed by the juveniles and the numbers and standard were big in most of the races. It was also great to see 10 parents participating in the Masters Championships after the juvenile races.
The first scorer was Jane Savage in 29th place; to complete the scoring were Juliette Nicholson 29th, Farrah Dunne 30th and Emily Hogan 32nd. The team came 4th. Well done girls.
Liam O’ Connor had a very strong finish to come 16th; he was the 6th scorer on the Cork team and won an inter-county gold medal. The second scorer for the Youghal team was CharlIe O’ Neill in 24th; next in were Eoin Kelly 27th and Eoghan Rooney 36th. The team came 5th which was a very good result. Great running lads!
Aimee Morgan ran a very strong race up front and finished in 7th place winning an individual bronze medal. Aimee also won a gold Cork medal as she was the 4th scorer on the Cork team. The team also included Joy Nicholson 35th, Lucy Micholson 58th and Ella Fleming 71st. The team came 5th. Well done girls!
This team came 12th and included Colm Landers 37th, Christian Millerick 63rd, Tom Fleming, Sean O’ Connor and Eanna McEnally.
Kerrie Barrett was the first in for Youghal in this team finishing strongly in 11th place and won a bronze individual medal. Kerrie also won a gold inter-county medal as she was the 4th scorer on the Cork team. Leslie Cashman was the second scorer in 19th place narrowly missing out on a Cork medal. Next in were Faith McEvitt in 42nd and Tirna Cahill in 63rd. The team came an excellent 5th in a very big field.
The club just had two athletes in this race both of whom ran very well. Dean Savage came 36th and Cian Nicholson 37th.
Karynn Collins and Aine O’ Regan gave very solid performances in this race. Karynn was 17th and only missed a Cork medal by one place. Aine had a tremendous finish to her race passing 6 runners in the last 800m and just missed out on a Cork medal by two places. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos
Congratulations to the O/50 Men’s team who came 3rd in the Master’s Championships. The team included Noel Curtin, Dermot Ledingham and Eddie O’ Regan. Noel was also the individual winner of the O50 section and was the first scorer for the Cork team that won gold. Also brilliant to see ladies team in action – reports will follow in Senior section!
