All Irelands Juvenile Track and Field Championships - Day 3 - 28th July 2012

Patricia Curtin wins U19 Javelin title.

On Saturday 28th July the club had five athletes in action and four medals were won. Patricia Curtin had a tremednous day in the U19 Javelin and won her first National title with an excellent PB of 38.23m. Patricia had very good throws throughout and won well; she has shown great form throughout this season. Faye O' Brien who competed in the U18 Javelin also achieved a PB of 30.06m and came 2nd. This was Faye's first All Ireland medal which was a great achievement for Faye. Lauren O' Mahoney came 7th in the U16 Shot with her throw of 8.70m. On the track the club had two athletes in action in the U15 1500m. Jennifer Hennessy ran a tactful race staying in 4th position for two laps and then worked her way to 3rd position; she finished very strongly closing in on 2nd place in a time of 4.56.12. Jennifer won the bronze medal which was her 2nd National medal for track this season. Fearghal Curtin ran a very good race holding in fouth place for 100m and then surged to the front where he battled it out with Mustaffe Nasir of Tallaght AC. Fearghal came in a very strong 2nd place with a brilliant PB of 4.21.03. The race was won in 4.19.67. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos

Well done to all athletes who did so well at these Championships. On the 4th and 5th August in Santry the club have 6 athletes in action including Ben Donovan and Sean Broderick at the All Ireland B Championships. Best of luck to all in the final competition in the juvenile section for the Track and Field season.
