Cian Greene wins Junior 60m title
Barry Healy wins Senior Weight for distance
Youghal AC athletes had a very successful day at the Indoor Championships in Nenagh last Sunday 19th January. Cian Greene made a fantastic return to sprinting after missing the last few seasons through injury.
Cian who has only turned 17 since late December participated in the Junior (u20) Sprint. He won his heat in a time of 7.36 and went on to win the title in a super time of 7.19. It was very encouraging for Cian to have sprinted so well on his first outing. He looks forward to competing at the new indoor track in Athlone at the All Irelands next week. Very best of luck!
Barry Healy continued his winning ways to the Indoors when he won the Senior Weight for distance with a good throw of 7.12m; his brother Michael came a very good with a throw of 6.81m. Michael also won bronze in the Senior Shot throwing 10.54 just 1cm behind 2nd.
In the Masters section Willie O’ Mahoney won 5 medals in the o/65 section. He was 2nd in the 200m and 1500m, 3rd in the 3,000m, 800m and Shot. His son Declan O’ Mahoney competed in the O/35 section. He was 3rd in the 60m sprint in a time of 8.38 and was unlucky in the Long Jump coming 4th. This was a significant accomplishment for the club to win 10 Munster Championship medals at the Indoors.
