All Ireland Track and Field Schools Championships

The club had 7 athletes in action in Tullamore on 2nd June on behalf of their schools; these had already qualified by coming in medal positions at both the East/South Munsters and Munster School Championships. Well done to Lauren O' Mahoney who won her first All Ireland schools medal when she came 3rd in the Intermediate Javelin and also achieved a PB 28.39m. Patricia Curtin was unlucky to finish 4th in the Senior Javelin but has suffering an arm injury. Cian Green did well in the Intermediate 100m finishing 6th in a high calibre field. Fearghal Curtin ran well in the Junior 1500m finishing 7th and achieving a PB OF 4.28. Newcomer Lydia Blanc had a great day at the Junior Triple Jump to come 5th and also to achieve a PB. Lee Curley also competed well at the Pole Vault but was also unlucky on this occasion. Well done to all those athletes for training so hard and for achieving All Ireland qualification which doesn't come easy. More photos available at www.youghalac.com/photos
