Hello to all from Youghal AC.

In this report I would like to concentrate on our athletes who took part in the Dublin City Marathon on last Monday in Dublin. For those of you who are not familiar with the marathon it is run through the streets of Dublin and its outskirts for a distance of 26.2 miles (42 kilometers). We had nine runners which is the biggest Youghal contingent that I can remember. Each and every one with their own goal and telling each other lies for the past few months as to what time we were trying to achieve.

Results as follows:

Steve Devereaux 3hrs 11mins. PB

Tom Barry 3hrs 14mins PB

Eddie Nicholson 3hrs 25mins Fifth marathon this year, what a record.

George Bulman 3hrs 29mins PB

Brendan Williams 3hrs 36mins First Marathon

Laura Keane 3hrs 52mins PB

Louise Phelan 4hrs 7mins First Marathon

David Savage 4hrs 27mins First Marathon

Urusla Nicholson 4hrs 52mins First Marathon

As I said it my previous report Steve and Tom were running very well and the Kenyan stuff that Steve (Tri and Run) is selling in the shop really does work, I am going to try it myself. As stated above Eddie has run 5 marathons this year, time to take a break Eddie but well done. Training partners George and Brendan had two great runs and made their target times. Well done to Laura on smashing the 4 hour mark a great run. Well done to Louise on her great time, by Tuesday she was trying to figure out how to break 4 hours next time. Well done to David on a great run on limited training. But pride of place goes to Urusla, who with seven children managed to fit in her training, how I don’t know but well done an inspiration to all.

The Senior cross country and the East corks were on in Carrignavar today and our novice team won the silver medals well done to Mossie Cahill, Brian Landers, Eddie O’Regan and Martin ‘farmer’ O’Brien, I would especially like to say well done to Martin who ran his longest race to date in very tough conditions and was the most important member of the team as he made up the fourth position.Well done also to Amanda Crotty who competed in the senior womens race, and finished 21st with a time of 0:28:37. To all our juveniles who ran today in a very tough course well done, see their results in our juvenile report.

See you all on the roads during the week.

New jerseys are also available from Rickki and anyone looking for club tracksuits contacts Mossie Cahill, Frank Morrision or George Bulman.
