Munster Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championship 13-Nov-2016

The MUNSTER UNEVEN AGE XC was held on Limerick racecourse on Sunday 13th November. The rain held off for the day but the previous weeks rain left the underfoot conditions extremely difficult.

Taylor Aherne and Autumn Devereaux were up first in the U9 girls race and got the day off to a great start. Taylor had a super run to finish 10th overall and obtain an individual Munster medal and was also the 6th scorer for the Cork team which won gold. Autumn also ran superbly to finish 32nd.

Sorcha Kilgannon led the Youghal girls in the U11girls race. She had an outstanding race but was outsprinted in the final straight to take 2nd place, winning an individual Munster medal and a gold Cork team medal. Poppi Devereaux was next home in 32nd position closely followed by Rachel Murray 38th and Eireann Barrett 42nd. Ruby Kennedy and Katie Ansbro completed the team which narrowly missed out on club team medals finishing 4th but qualifying for the National XC in December.

Lui Phibbs was the only U11 Youghal boy to run and finished in 150th position.

The course was getting very muddy when the U 13 girls set out on their 2500m race. Emma Landers worked her way through the field to emerge in the leading group and battled hard all the way to the finish line to take the Munster title. Avril Cashman was next home in 7th position followed by Eva Murphy 10th and Avril Millerick 11th. All 4 girls won individual Munster medals and gold Cork team medals. Alex Cashman had a super run to finish 15th overall followed by Erin Joyce 27th to secure club team gold medals. Robyn Buckley 42nd , Rion Walsh 44th ,

Grace Rooney 73rd and Natasha Kilgannon 114th completed the team.

Rory Motherway had a great run in the U13 boys race to finish 75th overall.

The U15 Youghal girls were led home by Lucy O Keeffe who finished a super 11th position and obtained an individual Munster medal. Lesley Cashman 26th was next home and qualified on the Cork team for the National XC . Kerry Barrett finished well in 63rd position.

Ciaran McNamee finished in 22nd position in the U15 boys race . He qualified on the Cork team for the National XC.

Aine O Regan had a good run in the U17girls race to finish 51st.

Simon Upton led the Youghal boys home in the U17 5000m race to finish 14th overall. Jake McCarthy was next home in 18th position. Both winning bronze Cork team medals. Killian Nolan 27th, Tiarnan McCarthy 39th , Eoin O Brien 41st and Dylan Lucey 49th completed the team which won bronze club team medals and qualified for the National XC.
