Munster Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships - 10th November 2013

The Munster Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships were held in Castlelyons on Sunday 10th November. Weather conditions were not very favourable. It rained throughout the day and it was freezing. Conditions underfoot got very mucky and difficult especially for the older juveniles and adults. Well done to all athletes.

Girls U/9

This team came 2nd overall out of a large number of teams and were only beaten on one point by Ennis Track to win the Championship team title. Avril Millirick kept up her good form and finished in a very strong 4th place. Grace Rooney also had a great race to finish 9th. Both of these girls won bronze individual medals and they also scored on the Cork team which came 2nd in the Inter-county section. Avril was the first scorer on the Cork team and Grace Rooney was the 4th scorer. Next in to score on the Youghal team was Alex Cashman 19th and closely followed by Sophie Connon in 20th , Tara Hickey came 56th. All girls won silver team medals.

Boys U/9

This team came 8th which was also a good result. Charlie O’ Brien was the first scorer in 46th, followed by Liam O’ Connor 58th, Charlie O’ Neill 60th and Eoghan Rooney 82nd.

Girls U/11

The team came 5th and only missed put by two points to qualify for the All Irelands. Avril Cashman who was running up an age had a stormer of a run to finish in 10th place and thus winning a bronze individual medal and was also the 6th scorer for the Cork team which won the County competition. Emma Landers also running up finished in a super 15th place and unfortunately got spiked in the early stages. Aimee Morgan who is showing great improvement this year was 18th. They were followed by Kira Fitzgerald 95th and Sarah Kate Dorgan 98th. Avril will now run on the Munster and Cork team in the All Irelands in Wateford on 15th December. Emma only missed out by one place for the Cork team and Aime by two places.

Boys U/11

This team came 12th. Ciaran McNamee finished in a strong 20th place and was the sixth scorer on the Cork team which came 2nd. Ciaran has now qualified to run on the Cork team in the All Irelands in Waterford also. Also on the Youghal team were Darragh Joyce 54th, Colm Landers 98th, Enda Cronin 101st, Oisin Hill 102nd, Sean O’ Connor 103rd and Ross Williams 119th.

Girls U/13

This team finished 11th. Lucy O’ Keefe finished 23rd and was unlucky just to be one place out of the Cork medals but she has qualified for the U/13 Cork team in the All Irelands and running up an age. Next in for the Youghal team were Kerrie Barrett 51st, Leslie Cashman 57th, Faith McEvitt 74th and Tirna Cahill 102nd.

Boys U/13

Jake McCarthy had a strong run to finish in 11th place and was the 4th scorer on a strong Cork team which came 1st. Jake has also qualified to run on the Munster and Cork team in the All Irelands in Waterford. Well done also to Dylan Lucey 83rd and Ben Terri 88th.

Girls U/15

All of these girls were running up an age and did well over this distance. Karynn Colllins was 58th, Aine O’ Regan 60th and Sarah Williams 71st.

Boys U/15

Eoin O’ Brien was 34th and was so unlucky to be 11th for Cork just one place outside qualification for the Cork team nevertheless had a great run.

Boys U/17

Fearghal Curtin finished a strong 3rd in this race and was the 2nd scorer on the very strong Cork team which also won. Fearghal will run for Munster and Cork in the u/17 teams in the All Irelands.
