National Even age XC 24-Nov-2019

The National Evenage XC was held in Abbotstown on Sunday 24th Nov. Conditions were tough with plenty of mud after a week of heavy rain. YOUGHAL Ac had 12 athletes competing on the day with some outstanding performances .

Autumn Devereaux had a fantastic run in the first race of the day , the U12 girls 2000m and finished well in 58th position.

Emily Brenner had a super run in the U14 girls 3000m to finish 17th overall ,scoring on the Munster team which won silver and the Cork team which took gold. Sorcha Kilgannon also competed well .

Emma Landers and Avril Millerick were outstanding in the U16 girls 4000m race to finish 4th and 5th respectively, winning individual National medals. They also won bronze Munster team medals and silver county team medal . Avril Cashman was next home in 36th position ,also scoring on the Cork team . She was closely followed by Alex Cashman 40th who completed scoring for this club team. Robyn Buckley and Eva Murphy completed this super team which took the National Club title and gold medals for all the girls.

In the U18 girls race Lucy O Keeffe finished 10th overall winning an individual National medal , in addition to a gold Munster medal and bronze county medal. She was also 17th overall in the junior girls race.

Ciaran McNamee competed well in the U18boys race to finish 97th overall. Jake McCarthy had to retire due to injury in the junior boys race.

Well done to all who competed and congratulations to Emma Landers and Avril Millerick who qualified on the Irish team for the Celtic international to be held in Scotland in January.
