A busy day of action on the road today with Youghal AC athletes taking part on 3 fronts, at the Munster Road Championships in Ballinameela (4 mile), Ballycotton Lighthouse 5 mile and the BHAA MTU 5km.
Firstly, we had 12 athletes who crossed the county bounds for the Munster Road Championships, with Celia O’ Regan taking home a bronze medal in her age category. Our ladies team came fourth overall in the Masters Club results with superb runs from Janette O’ Sullivan, Susan Dineen, Deirdre Ansbro, Laura Keane and Antoinette Keating. Our men also represented well, with David Herlihy, Tom O’ Neill, Maurice Walsh, Rob Moynihan, Dave Kilgannon and Eddie O’ Regan giving great account of themselves in great conditions for running. Well done all..
We had 2 representatives take part at the BHAA MTU 5km also, Dave McCarthy and Sylvie O’ Mahony supporting George Bulman, an organiser of the event today

Massive congratulations to Ruby Devereaux who put on a superb performance today at the All Ireland schools cross country in Galway. In a field of 118, Ruby crossed the line in tenth position securing a place on the Irish team to compete at the European cross country is Scotland in two weeks time.
Definitely one to watch for the future, considering he was the first 2010 boy home and was racing against boys up to two years his senior. Best of luck in Scotland in two weeks time.

10 Youghal AC athletes made the short trip this morning for the Cork East Midleton 10-mile Road Race on the Midleton Greenway. On a lovely morning for running, there was a great atmosphere and buzz around the start line with live music greeting the runners as we arrived for an 11 o’ clock gun time. A stiff breeze in the face of the 540 runners on the way to the halfway point in Mogeely kept us honest, but the support along the out and back course was great. With the wind at our backs for the second half, the race was set up for a fast, yet warm finish.
There were some great performances by our runners, but kudos goes to David Herlihy and Joanne O’ Halloran in particular, fitting the race into their 20+ mile long runs ahead of their upcoming marathons in London and Boston respectively . Results as follows:

91 David HERLIHY 01:07:35
117 Brian LANDERS 01:10:03
