Well done to the 52 Youghal AC athletes who made the short journey to Dungarvan for the ever-popular John Treacy 10m road race on Sunday morning. Conditions were pretty much ideal for the race with mild dry weather and there was a total of 2841 finishers.
Massive congratulations to Fearghal Curtin, who made the journey back from Portugal worthwhile with a pillar to post victory, winning the race in a course record 47:42, yes thatβs 47 minutes and 42 seconds for 10 miles, for us mere mortals . Well done to Fearghal and best of luck for upcoming races in Ibiza and Germany in the coming months.
Special mention to Sorcha Kilgannon, who was second junior female . Well done to Barry Ring, Peadar Carty, Susan Oβ Sullivan, Aidan Buckley and Marta Krakowska wearing the Youghal AC singlet for the first time and to those completing the 10-mile distance for the first time. PBβs for some of our members too - notably David Herlihy taking almost 90 seconds off his time from last year, Ian Murphy defying his aging legs and Anna & Krzysztof Pawlik, both coming back from recent injuries to run great racesβ¦

Weekend Round-Up 09/02/25
Well done to Fearghal Curtin who represented the club, county and country with aplomb at the 10km Ibiza-Platja dβen Bossa this afternoon in sunny Spain. In spite of his tiring schedule over the past week or so and 7 days on from his course record performance at the John Treacy 10 miler in Dungarvan, he put on a stellar performance to finish in third place in a time of 29:05. Plenty more to come from Fearghal weβre sure as he aims towards a couple of big races in the coming months πββοΈ
Also on foreign soil, although closer to home in Leeds, England, Avril Millerick put on a solid display at the Celtic International yesterday running in the womenβs Senior race against strong competition πββοΈ
Closer to home, weβll done to our athletes who took on the BHAA Jannsen 5km this morning in Little Island πββοΈπββοΈΒ

Well done to Fearghal Curtin, who was 3rd in Pulse 5K in Battersea, London last night under lights in a wonderful 13:52. Next race - Berlin Half Marathon 6/4.
Back to the weekend - well done to our 7 runners who took part in the Cloyne Commons 4K in atrocious conditions on Sunday morning. Brian, Mike, Dave, George, Mary and the two Marieβs are living proof that weβd do anything for a t-shirt π πββοΈπββοΈ
Well done to Graham Davis who took part in the Wicklow Hospice 1/2 marathon trail run on Saturday , finishing in 2:04:53.
