January '26 Round-Up

Cork County Relay on the 11th of January 2026

Youghal Juvenile Athletic Club had a strong turn out for our first outing of the year with a yellow wind and rain warning in place. Efforts to put up club tent for shelter had to be abandoned due to strong winds, which also rendered umbrellas useless. The athletes and their poor parents had to suffer on.

We had 40 athletes, 24 of whom were running up an age to support their club members in fielding teams. 3 teams brought home medals, and we had a number of teams finishing 4th just missing out.

Our U12 Boys secured gold with great performances from Darragh Curran, Brogan McCarthy, Connall McNulty and Thomas McGrath.  We had two U14 boy’s teams that had success. Team 1 made up of Diarmuid Murphy, James Kelleher, Sean O’ Donoghue and Olan Rochford who secured Gold and Team 2 that secured bronze included Ernie Sharkey, Ciaran Mcgrath, Shay Walsh and Jeffery Nicholson.
